Need an information on converting non-b to non-o. Is it possible to convert from non-b to non-o without exiting the country?

FYI. Husband is Indian and wife is Filipino. Husband is leaving the teaching job and wants to depend on his wife’s visa. Wife’s school is providing all the necessary documents.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, it is not possible to convert a Non-Immigrant visa of one type to another type while remaining in the country. For the husband in this scenario, he would need to exit Thailand to obtain a new Non-O visa from a Thai consulate. However, he can change the reason for his extension of stay from employment to his wife's sponsorship. This requires canceling his current work permit and applying for an extension based on being a trailing spouse, where his wife is the legally employed foreigner. It is advisable to visit their local immigration office for specific documentation requirements.

Just so you know you CANNOT convert a Non-Immigrant VISA of one type to that of another type inside the country. You leave and go get a NEW visa from a thai consulate.

You can changes the reason for an extension though, from one based on employment to one based on being married to a foreigner who is legally employed here.

The Husband would cancel his work permit, take that and his termination paperwork to the immigration office, cancel his current extension and IMMEDIATELY apply for a new extension based on being married to a foreigner who legally works here (called a trailing spouse extension).

They should go to the immigration office that they deal with to find out exactly what documentation and what IF any certification they need on the marriage certificate etc.

And let's get some terminology sorted out first

Is the Husband on an extension of stay from the immigration office OR on a visa from a thai consulate where he exits/enters the country every 90 days?
