How can I switch from a non-B visa to a non-O visa for marriage in Thailand, and is it possible to do this at the local immigration office?

Morning Everyone, how long does it take to switch from non B visa to non O for marriage (or is it possible to get a yearly extension on the non B for thaï family)? Can you do the process at the local office? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
To switch from a non-B visa to a non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, you must cancel your current visa and apply for a new one. You cannot convert from a non-B to a non-O visa while in the country. Go to the local immigration office with your spouse to gather the required documents for applying for a yearly extension based on marriage. The process involves obtaining a letter from your employer to cancel your current extension, applying for the new visa which will take around 30 days for processing after paying the fee of 1900 baht.

You can change the REASON for your extension from one based on employment to one based on marriage to a thai. You should go to your immigration office (with your thai husband) and get the hand out that lists the requirements as far as documents, photos, copies etc that you need to apply for a yearly extension based on marriage.

You would get paperwork from your employer stating you want to cancel your extension, you would go and cancel the extension based on employment and immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on marriage (with the documents required). They will charge you 1900baht, give you a 30 day under consideration stamp and then you go back in a month and get the year extension inked in

@Sandra *******
remember even if you change to an extension based on marriage you can still legally hold a work permit and work on that extension no problem.

@Sandra *******
you can wait until your current extension is running out and then just apply for a new extension for the new reason OR you can cancel the one you're on now and apply for the new one. That is your choice..

Good Luck,

Thank you Tod. I am married with a thaï national, we have a baby and I get my non B from Malaysia 4 years ago

so then you do NOT have any Non-B VISA and if you looked in your passport you would see a stamp which under the location of the office you used says "extension of stay permitted until" RIGHT?

And are you married to a thai national?

You can't go from a non-B VISA to a different visa type inside the country

So let's start out with you answering whether you're here on an extension based on employment from the immigration office OR if you're on a Non-B visa that you got from a thai consulate in another country.
