Hi everyone! I currently have a TR 6-month visa (Soft Power / Muay Thai) that was issued by the Thai embassy in Jakarta 6 months ago. It expires on June 30th.

I'm planning to apply for a DTV visa in Vietnam around June 20th. I was told I need to cancel my current TR visa before applying for the DTV.

I sent an email to the Thai embassy in Jakarta 8 days ago but got no reply. I also tried calling but couldn't get through.

Has anyone been in this situation? How did you manage to cancel your TR visa before applying for the DTV? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Our embassy flat out refused to cancel the METV so we waited until it expired and submitted the DTV application the same day.

I agree with the other poster who said you should just wait. Why deal with cancelling it when it expires in like two weeks anyways. Just go to Vietnam, Laos, etc. and apply for the DTV from there.

for what purpose for the DTV visa will you be applying? Muay Thai training...

You hold a passport from France...

DO you have proof of having a bank account balance in your name only of 500,000 Thai baht or more for EACH of the 3 recent months ?

And how are you going to support yourself with the DTV visa?

Suggest you read the posts about getting the DTV visa at both Vietnam and Laos to see the ADDED documents requested by each to be submitted

WHY are you going to Vietnam?

I believe that Vientiane will be a BETTER choice.

No, if the METV expires on the 30th of June you can't submit your DTV application until the 1st of July. The METV remains valid until midnight on the 30th
