Hi I’m currently staying in Thailand with an ED visa. I’d like to know if I can apply DTV visa in Laos or Vietnam or Cambodia after cancel my Ed visa ? Or I can only apply from my country?

I tried to sent email to embassy, but got no reply.

Please share with me.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a DTV visa after canceling your ED visa, either from the Thai Embassy in your home country or at an embassy in Laos, Vietnam, or Cambodia that accepts non-resident applicants. Responses from the community suggest that applying from abroad is a viable option, and several individuals have successfully done so without issues.

My understanding is that as long as you are not in Thailand, the Thai Consulate does not know where you are. So there is no problem if you apply at the Thai Consulate in your home country.

immigration can access your flight history upon your arrival in the country. For instance, if you’re from the USA and apply for a DTV while in Singapore through an e-visa at a Thai embassy in America, immigration authorities will review your DTV upon your arrival in Thailand and check your travel history to see if you’ve been in the USA.

It’s important to note that many countries, including Thailand, use advanced immigration systems that track travelers’ movements through airline data. If immigration officers find discrepancies or if they suspect you’ve violated visa conditions, entry can be denied. If you are denied entry, you could face deportation and legal repercussions, including a potential ban from applying for future visas, as many countries impose restrictions on individuals who have been denied entry or deported.

You can apply online and submit it to the Thai Embassy in your home country. As long as you don't tell anyone, no one will know you are abroad, right? I have tried it and it was approved and I got the DTV VISA.

You can cancel the visa, leave Thailand and then apply at one of the Embassies/Consulates that accept foreign applicants who aren’t local residents. Or apply via eVisa at the ones in your home country if they participate.
