Hi all, a DTV-based question: How long in advance can we apply for the visa before we go? All I know is the 5-year validity but there’s not enough info about how many days in advance we can apply for it.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can typically apply for a DTV visa for Thailand up to 3 months in advance of your travel date. It's advisable to apply closer to your intended departure, ideally 15 to 30 working days before, to ensure processing time aligns with your plans. Keep in mind that the 5-year validity of the visa starts from the date it is issued, so applying too early may not be beneficial. Some consulates and embassies may require you to show a ticket to Thailand, so it's best to check individual requirements on their websites.

I applied 3 months before. Because its new and not much information about how long it would take

Many consulates only accept applications up to 3 months in advance. And why would you apply earlier than that? The DTV is valid and its 5 year clock running from the day it is issued. Most consulates also publish how many working days they require for issuing visa. In general I would say: Do it between 15 and 30 (working) days before your intended travel date when applying through eVisa. And no, in the eVisa system at least there is no more proof of flight ticket required.

That's up to you. The earlier you apply, the more time of the 5 years you'll be wasting since the 5 years starts when it's issued by the embassy. And since you may need to show a ticket to Thailand, they likely won't issue it if your ticket is too far in advance. Check the embassy website to see how long they say it takes to process visa applications, then give yourself a few extra weeks to be safe.

I didn't need to show a ticket just give indication of travel dates

Hm. I don't know about all consulates, but at least here in Germany, they will only allow applications up to 3 months in advance. Also, there is no more proof of flight tickets required / no upload - just mentioning a flight in form.

- That depends on the embassy. When you apply in person, they just ask for the date and flight number. They don’t ask for an actual ticket

aha, I just knew this piece of information. The embassy in the Netherlands (where I will apply from) only gives the generic infographic. Nothing mentioned how far ahead to apply. Thanks!
