Hi, need some advice regarding student and Guardian visa. My wife and I, with our 2 kids, moved to Phuket from Bangkok. We need to cancel the student visa from their previous school and extend their 1 year student visa. Same for us and our guardian visa. I was told that I need 500k at least 3 months before applying. Our kids are in the new school in Phuket since Jan 2022 but I will be able to show the money for 3 month only in Feb. What do I do? Can I cancel only in Feb or can I go now? When I went to the immigration, they told me it's a new Visa so no need 3 month. Also I am required to show a letter from previous school and it needs to specify the same date that we arrange to cancel the visa. Anyone can recommend a company that could help ? Thanks a lot

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on canceling their children's old student visas from a school in Bangkok and extending them in Phuket along with their own guardian visas. They have moved to Phuket with their family and need to meet the financial requirements of having 500,000 Baht in their account for at least three months before applying for new visas. There are inquiries about whether the cancellations can be done immediately or need to wait until February, and also about the document requirements for the visas. Responses suggest that it might be possible to cancel the current extension early and apply for a new Extension of Stay in Phuket.

you MIGHT <- as in totally depending on the immigration office be able to cancel your current extension and apply for a 60 day covid extension as long as you do it before the current program runs out on Jan 25th. That would buy you time to get your money seasoned so you can apply for a new yearly extension based on raising foreign children here.

Keep in mind ONLY the very first year extension allows the 500K baht to be in an account for 30 days, every year after that is 3 months <- that's three months date to date NOT 90 days.

All you are doing is cancelling one extension and applying for a new one so it does not count as 'starting over with a new non-O visa and first extension'.

It seems that you have a stamp in your passport with the text Admitted to stay permitted up to xx/xx/xx.

This Extension of Stay must be cancelled if you do not meet the requirements, in your case when the kids left the school in Bangkok. You can do that in advance and apply in Phuket with documents from the new school for a new Extension of Stay based on education and for the parents as guardian.

Sorry, you need to meet the requirements.

If you are still in the first year, you need for a new Extension of Stay the 500.000 Thb three months into a Thai Bank account. You can not wait until you meet the requirements, as soon as you move and the children stop going to school in Bangkok you have to cancel the Extension of Stay in Bangkok and apply for a new one in Phuket.

Okay, this gets confusing.

Do you all have a stamp from the Immigration with the text Extension of Stay permitted up to xx/xx/xx

OR

are you still on the initial 90 days which you got on entry?

If you're on the initial 90 days, is the name of the school written on the visa?

Thanks Robert. So you think I can cancel in advance and apply only later when the 3 month have passed ?
