TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the visa conversion process for their wife and children in Thailand. They are looking to convert the wife's 4-year family visa under the husband's work permit to a guardian visa, following the acquisition of a 3-month student visa for the kids. They seek guidance on whether the wife needs to first switch to a NON-O visa before applying for the guardian visa or if she can directly transition to a 1-year visa once the children's student visa is extended. Additionally, the user wants to know the earliest they can convert their kids' 3-month student visa into a 1-year extension.

Remember IF your wife is going to apply for a new extension of stay based on being the parent of foreign children enrolled in school here, she'd need to show 500K baht in a thai bank account in her name only for 30 days before she apply for the extension for her first yearly extension.

she did file the TM.30 form and got the receipt already. BTW, I am the owner of the condominium.

@Alan ******
you may or may not need that proof of having filed a TM.30 receipt. I'd say if your landlord hasn't done it, take a copy of their thai i/d, the house book listing from where you live and your lease just in case you need to file one.

thank you for your reminder. We have deposit the fund in the bank over than 1 month. Does she need to have residence certificate also? We lived in the condominium owned with my name only.

That depends on the Immigration Office in your area.

yesterday, my colleague called the call center of immigration office, they replied there is no specific days requirement like 45 days, but I also heard about this rule from someone else, really confused...

thanks a lot, i will.

I understand, but you can not change from one Non Immigrant visa to another Non Immigrant Visa inside Thailand. You can change the reason of Extension of Stay. As you got this family visa from the BOI Office and knowing they have an Immigration department in that office I still suggest visit them and ask how to do this.

thanks, for my kids i will let the school prepare the documents for extension and also receipt of tuition fee. the headache issue is my wife's visa, when i asked the officer in government complex, they never give me exact confirmed file lists with very bad service mind. if i cancel my wife's current visa, she only can stay in Thailand for 2 weeks, so i have to make sure all the required documents are well prepared.

In Bangkok you can apply between 45 days before and the last day of the Admitted to Stay date. But you need documents from the school, best is to talk with them so they have all prepared.

thank you, can my kids extent the visa 45 days before the expiration day of three months visa?
Robert *******
If your kids get the Single Entry Non Immigrant ED visa they can with documents of the school before their 90 days of stay ends apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on study at the local Immigration Office. For you and your wife, i suggest you visit the BOI office where you got the visa and ask what is the best way and if they can provide the service to change.
