Does my partner need a re-entry permit for his ED Visa when traveling to Vietnam?

Hi all,

My partner is French and on an ED Visa. We'd like to go to Vietnam for a few days next month.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he needs to get a re-entry permit before leaving, am I right?

I only ask because a few people have told him he doesn't need one.

Has anything changed?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community confirms that your partner, holding a French ED Visa, must obtain a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand for Vietnam. Without the permit, his visa may be canceled upon exiting the country. It's also essential for him to return before his current visa stamp expires.

We will definitely get the re-entry permit.

if he is on the initial 90 days of his Single Entry Non Immigrant ED visa or he has already the big stamp from Immigration Office withe the text Extension of Stay, yes, than he needs the re-entry permit.

unless he wants the ED visa/extension to cancel the second he stamps out of the country he DOES want to get a re-entry permit before he leaves. AND it goes without saying he has to return before his current stamp expires :)
