Can my husband re-enter Thailand without a multi-entry visa after going abroad?

Hello everyone!

My husband DOES NOT hold A MULTI-ENTRY VISA (for the moment) and he must go abroad for 2 weeks, and then come back to Thailand. He has never gone abroad on this Visa extension so far.

Can you kindly advise on whether :

* he will be allowed to enter Thailand in the present condition

* or he must go to immigration and ask for the multi-entry before leaving?

Thank you very much for your kind answers and have a good day. ☺️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The husband currently does not have a multi-entry visa and needs to know if he can re-enter Thailand after going abroad for 2 weeks. Responses indicate that he requires a re-entry permit to ensure his current visa remains valid; this permit can be obtained at local immigration offices or at the airport before departure. It typically costs around 1000 baht, and many recommend getting it done at the airport for convenience.

He can get re-entry at BKK airport. I did this many times and it's MUCH quicker and easier at the airport than it is at immigration...

I've seen them. Double check the opening of the Re-entry visa at Suvarna (it used to be 24h, but not sure now because of covid). Assuming it's open it's much, MUCH easier. Trust me, I have done this about 100 times...

I trust that you have done this, but I also trust the lady who wrote that the office at airport was closed when she left and she lost her visa. I cannot take that risk so I am going to spend a money at chaengwattana and take the opportunity to do some shopping 😜

Need a re-entry permit or the current visa will be void if he leaves the country... unless things have changed because of covid. A re-entry permit cost 1000 baht if i remember correctly.

if in need of an re-entry permit (depending on current visa / extension), can get (buy) that at your local immigration or at the airport

We tried to buy a multiple entry at Suvarnabhumi end October and kiosk was closed and we were herded into a glass enclosure - lost our visa. Be sure to check that kiosk is open rather do it at Immigration x

the re-entry desk at BKK is open 24 hours but they don't always have someone there because it's not used very often.

As you're going through security you have to tell them you need to make use of the re-entry desk so they can send someone there to help you.

I would never try that because I know that things like that can happen. Sorry for your visa. I will make sure my husband goes to immigration! Thank you
