With those (gray market) visas I suggest you stay inside Thailand ...as

The desk isn't manned all the time <- meaning you'll have to tell someone you want to buy one so they can track a person down to sell it to you :P

Now just so you know IF you got one of those b/s, back door volunteer visa/extensions by handing your passport and a pile of money to an agent/agency you are NOT gonna get back into thailand easily.

AND

at this time people on ED visa/extensions for studying at a private school cannot request permission to get in to the country only people enrolled at real universities or international schools

Sure, go to the immigration office that issued your extension OR buy one at Suvarnabhumi/Don Muang airport when you fly out.

re-entry permits were NEVER free. A single re-entry permit is 1000 baht (it lets you exit/re-enter ONCE until your current extension expires)

A multiple re-entry permit is 3800baht (it lets you exit/re-enter as many times as you want until your current extension expires).
