Does leaving Thailand and returning affect the extension of my O 'retirement' visa?

I have an O ‘retirement’ visa with a current stay until Feb 2023 extension.

If I visit my home country (usa) and come back December 2022 does that ‘automatically’ extend my extension to Dec 2023? Or do I retain the Original renew date?

First year here, so no experience.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you leave Thailand on an O 'retirement' visa and return, the original renewal date remains the same, which is February 2023 in this case. To avoid cancellation of the visa upon departure, it's crucial to secure a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand.

It's much better when you show a picture of your visa page. We then understand what you are talking about.

Another clear response.

I guess that means that the re -entry stamp trumps the 2 areas where it states that a re-entry permit is required and I'm supposed to know that.

Too difficult to provide a simple response to that effect.

After all we're all Thai immigration lawyers in this group so no need to provide a useful answer.

Thank you.

sorry Mike, unfortunately you don't understand immigration stamps.

I'll explain this picture a little more.

It says re-entry permit.

It says number
*****
2.

It says valid until 7 May 2023. Which means he can leave Thailand every day and come back every other day until the 6 May 2023.

It says Multiple entries.

It says length of stay until 7 May 2023, which is the same date as his extension of stay in the other picture.

And it was made the same day as his extension.

Maybe you should stop criticising experts like me.

I'm seeing printed in 2 places on his stamps - "To keep your stay permit re-entry permit must be made before leaving Thailand"

Doesn't that indicate that a re-entry permit needs to be made before departing Thailand?

@Mike ****
you should look at the re-entry stamp that he he posted.

great information, thanks

Ok.

You have an extension of stay until 7 May 23.

You have a multiple re-entry permit until 7 May 23.

You don't need to do anything prior to leaving Thailand.

Your next visa interaction is up to 45 Days prior to 7 May 23.

don't worry. You have an extension based on an Non -O- visa plus an multiple re-entry permit till your extension will finish. Don't forget to reapply for a new extension well in time with all requirements.

Do you actually have a valid OA visa and not an O visa, nor an extension. Answer will be very different depending

Hi john, i received my visa after arriving in Thailand and meeting all the financial requirements. The stamps say Category O. There is a 90 day stamp and then an extension stamp good until May 2023. Then a multiple re-entry permit valid until may 2023. I added pictures above.

@Joe ********
in which case you will retain the original extension date. You'll need to extend again Feb 23
Shaun *********
You retain the original February date. Make sure you have a re entry permit for December or you will lose your visa.
Steven ***************
Original renewal date stays (Feb)

Don't forget to get a re entry permit, or your extension will cancel when you leave.

I have ‘multiple entries’ on my visa, is that good enough?

@Joe ********
. You said you had an extension..

Multi entry VISAS are self explanatory.

Extensions require re entry permits to remain active if you leave and return.
