Dears, I entered Thailand on 15 December 2019 with a one-year O-A visa multiple entry, based on retirement. Then, in December 2020, I got an extension until the first of October 2021. So far so good, but now I may go for 3 or 4 months abroad for work and the question is: If I go in the coming weeks with a re-entry permit, what happens if I comeback after the first of October? Is the re-entry permit allow me to re-enter Thailand after the first of October?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user entered Thailand on a one-year O-A visa (retirement) and is asking if a re-entry permit will allow re-entry after the visa extension expires on October 1, 2021. Comments inquire about the expiration date of the visa sticker to determine eligibility for re-entry.

what is the expiration date of the VISA STICKER that you got from your thai consulate before you came here. It will have an issue date and a valid until, or enter before date. What is that date?

Can I renew my extension before I leave Thailand, meaning months before the extension ends?

At most offices
@An***
you can apply for a new extension of stay when you have 30 days left on this stamp (SO any time after Sept 1st), you would beed to meet the proof of funds and proof of mandatory health insurance by one of the 15 approved thai insurance carriers who can issue
******
O-A insurance.

then as Piet pointed out you're on an extension and even with a re-entry permit you will not get stamped back in longer than Oct 1st

SO if you're not going to be back by then (so you can apply for a new year extension inside the country) you need to buy a NEW Non-O-A visa (or other visa to get back in)
