What should I do when re-entering Thailand on a multi-entry retirement visa after leaving?

I've got a multi entry "retirement visa" I stayed for 84 days and then left. I did not go to any other desk apart from the usual immigration. Should I have gone and got my passport stamped somewhere else before going through immigration. And will this affect me coming back in for another 80 odd days next time.

Thanks

Andy

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the necessary procedures for re-entering Thailand on a multi-entry retirement visa after spending 84 days in the country. The discussion clarified that when leaving Thailand, it's sufficient to proceed through usual immigration without needing additional stamps, as immigration automatically has records of entries and exits. When returning, it's important to ensure the passport is stamped correctly for the duration of the valid extension and that the re-entry permit is presented at immigration to avoid complications.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of a multiple entry non O from outside the country vs a non O in country + 1 year extension + multiple reentry permit other than it is all done at once?

*edited to rephrase question*

Not all embassies gives Non O with multiple entries, but if they do some prefer to use this for a longer stay in Thailand without putting 800K in a thaibank after 90 days for the one year extension of stay. Then they have to do a re-entry every third month to get another 90 days.

thanks for clearing this up. I didn't know you had to leave after 90 days with an embassy issued NonO.

Two options, leave (and re-enter if itโ€™s a multiple entries) or apply for the first year extension of stay.

, that depends on what is your advantage. All has different preferences and priorities, only you can decide what is the best for you.

okay, I want to bring this up because it is probably one of the most mixed up terms in all things to do with thai visaz

This poster does NOT have a year-long, multi-entry non-O visa <- which you can ONLY get from a thai consulate OUTSIDE the country ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

What they actually have is a year EXTENSION OF STAY and then a multiple re-entry permit <- those you get INSIDE the country at the immigration office and they are sold separately, meaning you can get a year extension and NOT get a re-entry permit.

This is what a year extension and a re-entry permit stamp look like

Notice I underlined the words "extension of stay" <- that's what it is, it's NOT a visa, and the word re-entry permit on the other stamp

Sorry the stamps are old, (and the image is small) they are the same stamps though ๐Ÿ™‚

Make sure they do also not cancel your multi entry visa when you come back in. That has happened to me. Show them the mistake and they will rectify it.

When you come back in, make sure they stamp you until the end of your visa, not for 30 days!

did you get this "multi entry retirement visa" inside the country from the immigration office or outside the country from the thai consulate before you came here

okay there we go, NOW we're getting somewhere

What you really have is a 90 day Non-O visa, then a year extension added to that AND then a multiple re-entry permit

Those are ALL sold separately; the 90 day Non-O visa, the year extension and then finally the multi-re-entry permit.

You're not actually here on ANY visa anymore because that Non-O visa you got when you started the process was only good for 3 months and what you're here on now is actually the stamp that says "EXTENSION OF STAY PERMITTED UNTIL" and has a date a year out.

Seeing as you said you also have a multiple re-entry permit <- which is it's own stamp good until your year extension, you don't need to do ANYTHING when you leave the country. Just show up and stamp out

When you come back into the country you need to turn your passport to the page that has the re-entry permit on it when you hand it to the passport control so they can see you DO have a re-entry permit and they stamp you in for the year stamp you're supposed to have (not on a free 30 day stamp).

When they give the passport back check the small red entry stamp and make sure it says Non-RE on the top and has a stamp the same expiration date as your extension/re-entry permit

For your as usual clear and understandable explanation

IF you do have a Non O multiple entry Visa for retirement, then Yes you will get a NEW 90 day STAMP on arrival into Thailand EACH time you enter during the ONE YEAR Validity of the Non O Visa as a retiree.

STAMP out as usual. NO NEED to inform Thai Immigration. They will know every time you depart and arrive in Thailand.
