My 1 year extention of stay (EoS) is valid until October 31, 2024.

I filed for a new passport to replace the current one which will expire in March 2025.

I will receive the new passport before end of September 2024.

Question: Do I have to transfer the EoS from the old to the new passport, and then file for the new EoS ?

Or could I just take both passports and get an EoS for 1 year directly into the new passport ?

Thank you for your advice.

Answer summary

The user is inquiring about the procedure for handling their Extension of Stay (EoS) after receiving a new passport. They ask if they need to transfer the EoS to the new passport or can they simply bring both passports to obtain a direct 1-year EoS in the new passport. According to a comment, they can take both passports, transfer the stamps, and then apply for a new extension by filling out the necessary forms.

You can take them both, get the stamps moved and apply for a new extension

Make sure you fill out the TM7 for the application of extension with the new number AND

file a new TM30 too

but I MUST get the stamps moved BEFORE I apply for new EoS, right ? However, it could be done on the same day. Thank you.
