I have a 1 year extension of stay ( expire Feb 2024) based on marriage with multi rentery permit. I renewed my passport recently while visiting my home country
How could I transfer the extension of stay to my new passport? Could I simply enter thailand as a tourist then go to the local immigration officer to get the old visa on the new passport?
Regards
Iluak

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on how to transfer their 1-year extension of stay based on marriage to their new passport after a renewal. They received advice indicating that they cannot enter Thailand as a tourist to get the old visa transferred directly. Instead, they should present both the old and new passports upon entering Thailand. The immigration authorities will stamp the new passport until the extension expiration date, after which they must visit their immigration office to have the extension stamp and re-entry permit transferred to the new passport.
You show BOTH passports when you stamp IN to thailand, (the old passport even though cancelled still has a valid Extension and Re-entry permit in it for thailand)
They will stamp you in on the new passport until Feb 2024, and then you go to your immigration office and get the extension stamp and re-entry permit moved to the new passport
