TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they should transfer their 90-day ED visa to a new passport they need to obtain since their current passport is almost full, or if it's better to wait until after getting a 1-year extension. Responses indicate that visa transfers are not possible, only a notation of the visa held can be transferred. It is recommended to get the new passport and proceed with the extension application, while considering passport validity.

okay, what was the reason you didn't get a new passport BEFORE you went down the ED visa route? 🙁

The thai immigration office does not transfer VISAS to new passports, so all you'll get transferred is the notation you HELD an ED visa in the old passport and your 90 day entry stamp.

I'd definitely get the new passport and use it to get the first extension. <- BUT seeing as the school needs documentation from you (copies of your passport to turn in to the Ministry of Education to get the extension you need to check with your school as far as what way they want you to do it)

(Take 1-2 month for arrived can't wait the passport before go) I think not have time before my one year extension.

So when I get my one year extension for my ED, I transfer the stamp to the new passport, after all good? Not have problem when have to extend another year in the future as well? :)

I'll try before the one year extension as well.

Talk to the school/uni because they definitely send your current passport/visa copies in to the MOE to get the extension paperwork and IF you get a new passport in the mean time it could mess up the process.

Given what you said, I'd say get your year extension (IF there's enough space in the passport for it) <- takes

page, THEN get a new passport and go transfer the stamps AFTER

As long as your current passport has long enough validation for your next extension, it wouldn’t be matter. You consider two points:

- you will get a 1-year extension until earlier date of for full 1-year or your passport expires

- you are supposed to go to the immigration office to move stamps as soon as you get your new passport
