Hi all, I recently got a UK passport renewal, and now have a blank new passport and an invalidated passport with a visa exempt extension stamp. Do I need to go to immigration to have the stamp transferred into my new passport? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
After renewing your UK passport, it's unclear whether you need to transfer your visa exempt extension stamp from your old passport to the new one. Community feedback suggests that you may simply need to carry both passports upon exiting Thailand, as one member advised showing both passports to avoid issues. However, there is also a recommendation to visit immigration to confirm the specifics, especially if you have an extension of stay stamp.

Now to be completely honest

, I'm not 100% sure about it because if you have an "extension of stay" stamp and get a new passport you usually go to your immigration office and get the stamps transferred and the notation that you switched passports inside the country.

I would say seeing as the immigration offices are slow now with no tourists that you should swing by yours and double check. I don't wanna steer you wrong on this at all..

I think because all you have is a 30 day visa exempt extension stamp (and probably are already on amnesty from that anyway) that you keep BOTH passports and when you go to exit the country you show them both and they'll stamp you out on the new one.
