Hi all. I'm on a 1 year extension of stay based om my original Non O (married to a Thai) obtained out of country. My extension if stay expires on the 12th Aug and I will apply for a new 1 year extension. So my question is: I have recently received a new passport. Do I need to get the stamp transferred to the new passport before applying for the new 1 year extension or will they transfer when I apply? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about applying for a new extension of stay for a Non-O visa after receiving a new passport. They were informed that they need to bring both the old and new passports to the immigration office along with a letter from their consulate indicating the passport switch. It's also advised to use the new passport number when filling out the application for the extension.

I don't have a letter from the Aus Embassy. I will be using Chon Buri Immigration

Russell Hannah. Every new passport from the Aus embassy comes with a letter. Have another look

thanks. I can't seem to find but hopefully I have filed it somewhere. Failing that I'll print out the receipt the Aus Embassy sent me.

Russell Hannah. The receipt won't cut it, you most definitely need the letter. That's the reason it's issued - to satisfy the anally retentive Thai immigration

take the old passport, the new passport and the letter from your consulate stating you switched passports in country to the immigration office and you can apply for the year extension AND get the stamps moved to the new passport all at once.

Make sure when you fill out the application for your next year extension (the TM7) that you use the NEW passport number ;)

What immigration office are you using?
