Do I need to renew all the paperwork every year for a marriage extension in Thailand?

After years of Thailand elite, then retirement extensions, finances dictate I switch to an extension based on marriage. I realise it's pretty onerous but doable. My question for those who do it regularly.... is all the paperwork, photos, hand drawn map, kor ror 2 etc supposed to be renewed EVERY year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, when applying for a Thai marriage visa extension, you are required to renew all documentation annually. This includes providing new passport copies, marriage certificates, TM30 forms, photos, and a hand-drawn map of your residence. Each year constitutes a new application, necessitating the resubmission of all required documents. Expats recommend being thorough, making copies of all documents, and ensuring all future requirements are met, as immigration can check the consistency of your documentation from year to year.

Dont think they dont check everything. Last year we had the photo taken outside by the post box with the house number on it. During the year our numbers fell off so my wife bought new numbers to stick on. This year getting my visa, was a problem. The immigration guy said its not the same house because of the difference in last years photo and this years. Crazy I know but he wanted to come round and check it.

Yes, just doing mine in Chiang Mai,the amount of paperwork, in duplicate, is ridiculous but that's the way it is.Photos in bedroom, lounge, kitchen and standing next to mail box showing address. For us 18 years same address, never had a single visit.

More paperwork but totally doable. It's not like I have a job so I have plenty of time to do it.

Know you local office requirements .

Yes, scan passport, pink border marriage certificate, yellow house register, wifeโ€™s Thai ID, map to home and update as needed such as passport, etc.

In other words scan the ones that are ongoing. Once scanned you can print yourself or go to a shop.

You have them in a file and can update as needed.

Other documents like

the current marriage certification (Kor Ror2), copy of bank book and bank letter must be gotten from other sources.

If you already do retirement extensions it might be easier to continue that....

always wondered about pics. What format? How many? Printed? What size?

well my wife does all that, when we get to immigration they tell her what is wrong with items like the pics and she sends to them via an app.

CM immigration allow photos printed by inkjet onto copy paper.. but best to limit them to 1 photo per sheet rather than multiple photos on 1 sheet of paper.. or simply cut them into individual shots.. but do more than needed in case any get rejected.. we always supply lounge, kitchen, bedroom, front patio, garden, and the street shot including the house number.. then let them take the 3-4 they want!

... I always did full A4 photos inkjet printed on normal paper but this year CM IO told me I can have multiple photos on 1 sheet and, I've never been asked for or given bedroom photos.

Ps. You can print them from your phone at the small copy shop at the rear of the building.. next door to the tm30 office ๐Ÿ‘

usually it's a full body shot of you and your Thai wife in front of the address numbers where you live, one or two shots of you sitting on the sofa in the living room, one or two shots of you sitting/standing in the kitchen, and that's about it

again check with your office to make sure you get it right the first time..

@George ********
it's so immigration office specific you need to ask your office how many they want, how they want them oriented, what size, where they should be taken,

Some offices let you upload images and print them a few per A4 paper, others want real printed photos on photo paper that you print out, they pick what they want and you stuck them on A4 paper at the immigration office

You get granted extensions a year at a time, so every year is a NEW application; requiring all new documentation,

That means, passport copies, lease/TM30, wife's i/d house book copies, marriage document copies, updated Kor Ror 2, map, new photos, new TM7 application form.

Everything needs to be all done again for the next yearly application
