Hi if I travel within Thailand do I need to go to imigration to re register my address.?
Answer summary
When traveling within Thailand, whether or not you need to re-register your address with immigration largely depends on your accommodation type and the policies of immigration offices. Typically, hotels are required to register your stay via TM30, but not all do it consistently. If you return to the same address after your travels, a new TM30 may not be necessary unless specified by local immigration policies. If staying with a friend or family, they are responsible for your registration. It is advisable to ensure that the TM30 is filed correctly, particularly if you anticipate needing to present it for other immigration purposes, such as bank account registration or driver's license applications.

It depends on your Home Immigration Office - e g Chonburi don't require that - but other Offices yes - Check with your Immigration Office Not with FB (you See a Lot of comments "the Hotel do" what Has nothing to do with your Question...)
Yes if you own or rent also if you rent you have to go with the owner after you register and go in and out you just go by yourself when you return because them have your register from before done this many years if you change address you will have to register or take the owner .
report every 90 days. if you do change your address like from one condo to another make sure tm30 is done by the owner. if they refuse to do it and do it yourself. otherwise don't worry about it.
Jim Davis I have yellow book and pink card. How does it help? Personally I use the pink card at hotels and try and avoid being registered but how does it all avoid eTM30. ? Cheers
The TM30 is your last address known to Immigration.
By checking in a hotel with your Pink ID, they will not submit their TM30 that overwrites your last address on the Immigration file. Only one TM30 address is in effect, the last one, no history.
Jim Davis could I please ask for your help to elucidate on your comments . TIA. I have a yellow book ( pink iD and name on chanute as owner of my condolences). I have my condo set up for doing TM30 and take great care to register myself after immigration visits suggested that was the way to do it as I am a foreigner staying in a residence , irrespective of ownership the owner has to register me. I have no Thai wife
I presume there is a TM30 registration where you are staying now. The owner of the accommodation (partner, friend, family, hotel, apartment..) has to file for you. They are responsible. But you have to check if that is done, and preferably ask for a copy.
If and when you travel within Thailand, and you stay in one or more hotels, they have to file (but my experience is, they do not want the daily hassle, even though it is mandatory. In my case they never did). So ask them if they do, and ask for a copy (if they do).
When you get back to your permanent residence/accommodation you have to file again (I mean the owner of the residence). But again, only if other places have.
My example. When I arrive in Thailand, I stay with my girlfriend. She has to file (easy, she just got an account online, that you use everytime). When we travel within the country, and a hotel DOES file too, then I (my girlfriend) has to file again when we get back home. And this is the case EVERYTIME)...
People here have said it is not a big deal if you don't have to deal with immigration (for an extension for example). That is half true. Don't forget, it is mandatory. If a policeman pulls you over, they could ask for it...
But, I think that hardly happens.
Someone here even stated: "there are different rules"... No. There is one rule: you have to file for a TM30 everytime... (like, you have to carry your original passport at all times. People will always tell you different. But that is a different topic).
Robert G Viset If you have a long term visa, you do not need to make a new TM30 when you come back to your home address after traveling inside of Thailand.
Anthony van der Craats That is the problem if you ever need any service from Thai Immigration. If a hotel files your stay with them, that is your latest and only valid TM30.
They will not if you have Thai Pink ID for foreigners or Thai driving license. None of those have your passport number. Unless, you are a backpacker.
My Thai ID and my Thai driving license have no my passport number. Just Thai ID.
Many years ago (pre-online reporting) we travelled up to my wife's village in Isaan, some 900kms away from home. After a couple of weeks there it dawned on me that my 90 day reporting was due. Back then you could report your TM30 info to the police if you were not near a town with immigration. The local chief of police was not interested one bit. In fact his only interest once he found out I was from Glasgow was whether I supported Rangers or Celtic. 😆 We had to drive 70k to Nakon Phanom and tell them we just arrived and could they do my 90 day reporting while I was there. Job done.
Peter Young No. If you have Thai Pink ID, hotels will not submit their TM30.
My Thai ID has no passport number, my Thai DL has my Thai number from the Pink ID, no passport number.
Considered as a local, no TM30 by a hotel.
A worakround may be, if you are travelling with your Thai partner, book the hotel under their Thai name, you won't be asked for your passport and no change to your TM30.
25 years going to Thai (visa exemption, then 30 days, now 60 days) I never knew the TM30 even existed. Since joining this group, now I need Immigration services and I did TM30. Non O extensions.
My Thai wife (Blue Book holder) had to be with me at the Immigration office (Bangkok, Samut Prakan) to register me. She had to sign several papers. Our family, we live in Japan but still she (my wife) has the Blue Book on my own condo.
Jim Davis same for me, 25 years visiting and staying in the village, and this time learn about the TM30, small 800 Bt fine, and visited the property from Immigration, very polite and only on site for a few minutes.
Patrick Ward Yes, I have the Yellow Book, Thai ID (Pink card for foreigners) and Thai driving licence. Everything after that went fine, no Certificate of Residency needed, bank account just wanted my Yellow Book, driving license on the spot.
Neither my Thai DL nor my Thai Pink Card have my passport number, they have my Thai Pink ID card number.
Over 60 years old, the Pink Thai ID is forever, no renewals.
it's not like that when i asked immigration recently when i report TM30, the counter officer said no need, but added i might as well report as i came to.office anyway, hahahaha, so humourous! i actually report this on my google map review titled: residence notification, you can browse
Michael Winter not true, there is one national rule: you have file everytime...
You can easily file online (well, your wife/family/friend does). She makes an account, and she can file every time :-) 5 minutes work. Download a copy.
Robert G Viset sorry but that's not true, there was a update in June 2020 where you do not have to do a new one if you go back to your registered address, it was also published in the Royal Gazette. You will find it if you Google it.
I tried to do my 90 day report on Friday and it was rejected saying I was registered as staying in Chumphon. So have to update my TM30 before completing the 90 day report. I was there for 1 night whilst driving between Bangkok and Phuket. I've been at the same address for 4 years. Never had this problem before, has something changed recently?
Henri Hagström No, you can not. The landlord has to be there. The condo is my property but my Thai wife has to be there for my Yellow Book. Dozens of forms to be signed by her.
Jim Davis You can , and I have. Some places you rent will not deal with immigration. Especially if the are under the table or unorganized. My wife works for the federal government and we know this well .
You will only notice this if you actually need a TM30 for something else that involves Thai Immigration. For example, residence certificate for a bank account or getting a Thai driving license.
I was just in imagination on Friday getting photos taken with imagination police and they know about my next trip away and said every time you go away you have to come back and re- register, I'm not bothered but I go away to three days every two weeks so my visits to imagination are going to be the same as staff, lol
Paul Ferrol That is what have to do or get a fine you have 24 hours to do it on return. It's all on computer were you stay in thailand unless you find a place that dont register you.
Yes my eyesight is that bad, bloody auto correct, lol,
So another question is my trips away usually end at the weekend, so I can't go and re- register sat or sun and Monday is obviously more then 24hrs, yes I know that I'm not that daft, lol, how hard is it to do online,
It’s the responsibility of the property owner to register foreigners at their place. Hotels will do this online and in theory places like condos or Airbnb should do also but sometimes won’t.
If you need no interaction with immigration you won’t need to worry about it.
