I just returned home after a month outside Thailand. I purchased a reentry visa before leaving. Do I have to scurry to immigration to let them know I am back?
I have a non O "retirement" visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon returning to Thailand with a reentry visa on a Non-O "retirement" visa, there is some uncertainty about the requirement to notify immigration. Comments suggest that one is usually required to file a TM30 form, either by themselves or through a landlord, soon after returning. However, experiences vary by immigration office, with some expats reporting they were not required to file a TM30 upon returning from overseas. It's recommended to check with the local immigration office for specific guidance.

i think it's just immigration office specific. Some want you to re-file or update a TM30 even if you're just traveling inside the country and some want you to do it only if you come back from overseas (seeing as you have a new arrival date and TM6 card number).
That's why checking with YOUR immigration office is so important. No matter what the law says they are the ones who interpret it.

perhaps if the last address and the current address are the same, thus they have your 'current' address already in the system so no need to update....well nothing to update
got back from UK last week, went to Immigration and told no need to do TM30

I think you'll find out you (or someone) DOES have to file a TM.30 and that despite not having a problem before now, you'll find out that the immigration policy about this has changed considerably.

You or your land lord is required by law to file a TM30 form.

You need to ask that question at your local Thai Immigration office. Then you will know what to do. BUT DO IT ASAP.

I think TM 30 must be done.

You could wait and pay the fine . . .
My plan is to scurry next day when I next return from travel outside Thailand.
