TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon arrival in Thailand, most travelers receive a 60-day visa exemption stamp, which can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 THB. The duration and eligibility for this visa exemption may vary based on nationality. If a tourist visa is obtained prior to traveling, it also grants a 60-day stay with the option to extend. Travelers should be prepared to show evidence of onward travel within the stipulated timeframes.

You can leave the country and get an automatic 60 on entry, it’s not a visa. It’s visa exempt.

Assuming you're from one of the 93 countries that are eligible for Visa exemptiom, you will be allowed a visa-free entry for 60 days (with a possibility to extend that with another 30 days at an Immigration office for 1900 thb). That means you wont have a visa - You get a stamp in your passport when you enter Thailand.
It is also possible to apply for a tourist visa from your homecountry before you travel... A tourist visa allow the same time of stay as the visa exemption (60+30 days). There are no tourist visa that give you 90 days from start... you will need to get an extension to get a total of 90 days.
If travelling without visa, you may (or may not) be asked to show an onward ticket out of Thailand within 60 days from your arrival (i.e. you should be able to show a ticket if asked by the airline and/or by the Immigration officer at the airport).
If you travel with a tourist visa, that you applied for in your homecountry before your trip, you need proof of onward travel within 90 days from your arrival date.
There are other visas as well, that might grant you more days, but you need to research that on your own. Check for information on the web for the Thai Embassy in your homecountry:

You will receive a 60 day visa exemption stamp on arrival and can then go to an immigration office and extend it for another 30 days after you've entered the country.

Whichever matches & fits within your return flight home.
If you enter on visa exemption you’ll get a 60 days visa exemption which can be extended with additional 30 days locally. If you leave and re-enter you’ll get another 60 days visa exemption.
For both entries your airline might require a an onward ticket within 60 days.
how dose that work then as I going on 4 February but coming home on 29 June but in between I flying to Cambodia then back to Thailand then I be flying to Vietnam then back to Thailand so everytimes I fly back into Thailand I get a 60 days stamp in my passport
Yeah , I know , but why do they keep changing things , the Thai foreign ministry must lay awake at night and think up ways to make it harder for tourists to bring their money to Thailand
