Do I need to file a 90-day report (TM47) if I have a 60-day COVID extension in Thailand?

Hi, can someone who knows for sure whether or not people on the 60 days covid extension have to also do the 90 days report ( TM47) ? I was not asked to do this when I was at Samui Immigration for my extension however, my friends here on Koh Phangan at the new Immigration office here were told that they had to do it. This is very confusing and seems redundant as we would be essentially be coming back in 60 days anyway to apply for another extension ( if still allowed). Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The need for a 90-day report (TM47) for individuals on a 60-day COVID extension in Thailand seems to vary by immigration office. Some users reported being asked to file a 90-day report after receiving a COVID extension, especially if they have been on an extension for the same reason more than once. It is recommended to check directly with the immigration office during your next visit, as policies may differ from one office to another.

Okay, this is how it SEEMS to be working.

For people who have been here since BEFORE the lock down last March and who got amnesty, then embassy letter extensions then 60 day covid extensions it SEEMS like the immigration office is making people who have been here 90 days on an extension for the same REASON (ข้อ 5 <- clause 5) do 90 day reports.

CHECK WITH YOUR IMMIGRATION OFFICE when you get your next covid extension (and really check with the people who really do 90 day reporting at your office NOT the passport stamping paper pushing wingnut who just did your covid extension :O )

I am getting reports from more and more people at various offices who went back for their new covid extension being told;

they need to file a 90 day report NOW and then get their new extension

OR

they get fined 2000baht for late filing, do a 90 day report and then get their new extension

OR

they get that small paper that says when their first 90 day report is due and get their new extension

I was just looking in to this. KPNG immigration has been staffed from Surat Thani not Samui. Surat Thani is the primary office in that province. You need to report every 90 if in the Kingdom more than 90 days. Although they'll see you again in 60 days, you cant report 90 day report then as you can only do this 15 days before or 7 days after. Atleast you have a local immigration office now.

You do what your Thai immigration office requires.

First off whether you believe it to be redundant or not doesn't factor into the equation. :O

I stopped looking for logic here a LONG time ago and suggest you do the same. ;)

Second, whether an office requires or doesn't require a 90 day report seems to be totally up to that individual office

So I'd suggest that next time you go for a covid extension you ask the officer giving it to you whether you need to file a 90 day report or not.

Believe me that's not a cop out answer from me that's me telling you with over 70 immigration offices in the country it comes down to each offices policy :/
