TLDR : Answer Summary
The need to file a TM30 report upon re-entering Thailand without a change of address seems to vary by local immigration office. Generally, if the address remains the same after travel, some offices do not require a TM30 report, while others may insist on compliance within 24 hours of re-entry. It is advised to check directly with your local immigration office for their specific requirements as practices can differ significantly across locations.

As i nderstood they want to see a regisyration per visa entry. It is required before you can apply for an extension. It is the owners responibility to register foreigners. You can check into a hotel for one night and be registeted. If your not 0lanning on extrnding not an issue.

Same same but different depending on the day of the week and who's manning the desk šŸ˜‰

I did it last month in Chiang Mai, was told by the officer only 1st time need Report within 24hrs, after that can go within 1-2weeks after return to Thailand. Iā€™ve been in and out many times but only report on last trip back to CM just as I need renew my 1yr visa. They donā€™t care those trips in between...

It differ at every office, visit them and ask when they want you to fill out the complete form or when to visit to update your registration. It does not make sence and I even see it as bad advice to just write: My office do not care, if you live in an area where Immigration does not enforce the rules the same as the Immigration Office in the area of the person who asked

Different rules at different offices so it's hard to tell. Mine used to not care but now they require it within 24 hours. I understand Chaengwattana in Bangkok don't require it so your office may very well be the same.

Maybe itā€™s different in different offices around the country? in Chiang Mai you have to do tm30 check in/update after every trip out of country!

Lesley Smith when I returned from Australia recently they did want a new TM30 even for same address - so enforcement is not consistent evennis same office

Better to be safe than sorry...to avoid a potential fine

Honestly only takes about 5 minutes to lodge the TM30 anyway in Jomtien :))

Lesley Smith that's also what I was told at Siricha Immigration ...no need to report if my official residence as stated when I applied for my annual Extension of Stay address has not changed when I reenter.

I got told the same at Jomtien this week when I went to report after returning from Australia...I have multi-entry non-b. No need to do TM30 if I havenā€™t changed address.

there is a lot of confusion in the community right now about the difference between the initial tm30 the landlord does and the following tm30 updates done after leaving and returning.

thanks..which is different than what the 90 day reporting office said to me today... 'no need to do 24 hr..just the 90 day report after you reentry'
Scott ******
Yes.

Last visit there I was told only need to report again if travelling outside Thailand. If within Thailand then no need

I just returned from Hong Kong and was at immigration today. All they did was stamp the new entry date in the form stapled in my passport from back when my landlord did the initial reporting when we signed the lease. It seems that you only have to do the TM 30 immediately after signing a new lease or new address, then they staple the bottom part of the tm30 to your passport and you only have to take it in to be updated if you leave the country. I didnā€™t need anything other than my passport with original tm30 ā€œreceiptā€ stapled in.

I was there last week after returning from overseas to the same address - and needed to provide a new TM30

So I think it really depends on the IO you get...so they do enforce the rule of new TM30 on return within 24 hours - just not consistently
