I am from the Netherlands and considering to apply for a METV (I am in the Netherlands now). I quit my job a while ago and want to travel and visit my girlfriend. I found some information saying I need an employment letter or a statement of enrolment from an academic institute. I have never heard this before, but do I really need it? If so, should I apply for the SETV? I thought I only need onward travel docs, enough money on my bank account and hotel reservation. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a resident of the Netherlands, is considering applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to visit Thailand. They are unsure if they need to provide an employment letter or a statement of enrollment since they have quit their job. Comments from community members suggest contacting the consulate for clarification on requirements for unemployed travelers and mention that the application process may vary in different countries. Additionally, the discussion touches on visa types, specifically the Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV), proof of onward travel, and regulations regarding maximum stays in Thailand.

and since the topic swerved into recommendations to do something illegal I think we're done and the O/P has plenty of information to figure out what to do

Thanx all (y)

Could be worth to try to contact the consulate you are applying to see if there was unwritten conditions for not employed travelers (self-employed, freelancer, investor, etc etc). I guess you see same conditions from their web site in the worst case,

Not as easy as in Vientiane, you have to show some requirements

Yes I am planning to go to Vietnam after exactly 90days

Ok thank you. One more question, the proof of onward travel. Should it be in the 60 days or is after 90 days also possible?
Robert *******
That is an alternative, you will get than 60 days on entry, possible to extend at immigration for another 30 days, than go to a neighbor country apply for a new SETV and do it again. But this not work for years and years, there is not an official limit but Thai Consulates do make their own limits.
