Does anyone have experience with the "employment letter" requirement for the METV?
I am a US citizen and would most likely apply at the Los Angeles consulate. My entire visa history is only 2 visa exempt entries in 2019, no overstays.
I am retired and can meet all other requirements of the METV, except the employment letter. Am I out of luck on the METV???
My goal was to plan several months of SE Asia travel, with multiple stop overs in Thailand.
I know I can likely work within the constructs of visa exempt entries, extensions, border crossings, and/or maybe a SETV from somewhere in SE Asia.
However, my preference was to not have to worry about all that and just be flexible in my travels to/from Thailand and within the region.
Also, there's a chance I'll eventually obtain a non-OA and wanted to keep a very clean visa record, just in case.
Thanks in advance!!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A retired US citizen inquiring about the 'employment letter' requirement for the METV may not need to provide one if they meet the other requirements for the visa. Responses from other users indicate that retirees have successfully obtained the METV by indicating their retirement status on the application, without needing to submit an employment letter.
