We'll be applying for the 6 months tourist visa (METV) in Los Angeles, California.

- will I get denied if I don't have a letter from employment or a self employed letter?

we quit the jobs to take 6 months vacation. If so, what can I do? Did anyone just didn't send the employment letter and got the visa anyway.

- and is it true that METV 6 months visa starts counting down the day the visa is issue?

Thank you in advance :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses applying for the 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from Los Angeles, expressing concerns about the need for an employment letter after quitting jobs for a vacation. It asks whether a visa can be granted without such documentation and confirms that the 180-day validity starts once the visa is issued. Comments clarify that the visa allows multiple entries, with each stay up to 60 days, which can be extended to 90. Furthermore, it inquires about applying for this visa outside one's home country.

Linda, what was the outcome of this? I will be applying for the same visa in LA in a few weeks and was wondering how close they looked at all the requirements. Did you need a proof of employment letter and proof off all flights?

Can you only get that 6-month METV in your home country?

I thought I read on this page US & Britts applying for this same visa in New Zeland.

The 6 month visa does not allow staying 6 months continuously. It gives you unlimited entries to Thailand for 180 days from when they put it in your passport, each entry allows you to stay for 60 days. (Which can be extended to 90 days) You can re-enter Thailand right before the visa expires to stay another 60-90 days.

Also worth noting that although the six month validity does indeed start from the day its put in your passport, if you leave/re enter Thailand on or before the last day of that validity, you will be stamped in for another 60 days.

I can not talk for the staff working there, it is their decision, you can contact them and ask. Yes, the day the visa is attached in your passport is the day it gets valid, the METV is valid for 6 months from that day.
