I am married to a Thai and applying for the O retirement visa

Being married do I require 400,000 baht or 800,000 baht in a Thai bank?

Also what is the maximum amount that I can transfer to my Thai Krungthai bank account from Australia?

TLDR : Answer Summary
For expats married to a Thai national applying for a Non-O visa in Thailand, the financial requirements differ based on the type of application. If applying for a non-O based on marriage, the requirement is to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank. However, if opting for the retirement option under the Non-O category, you will need 800,000 baht. Additionally, regarding bank transfers from Australia, you can transfer significant amounts to your Thai Krungthai bank account, but it's advisable to keep transfers at or below 10,000 AUD to avoid scrutiny. Transfer limits can vary, but Krungthai Bank allows for transactions up to 1,500,000 baht via SWIFT.

If you are applying for non-o (retirement) you need 800k baht seasoned for 2 months prior to the application.

Hi All. Recently posted 2 questions regarding O visa for me having a Thai wife of 20 years.

90% of your responses where great and very helpfull.

There where several sinical replys with no relevance to my concerns. Some where somewhat insulting

These people on your site who are insulting are burnt out piss tanks living in cheap rooms in the back of Pattaya with little funds and spend there time posting critical and relevant responses.

You need to delete these retards

Well your lucky I just left and couldn’t get a bank account open till I get a non-immigrant/marriage visa so I’m gonna do that here in the USA they come back over in December to live and I also might get a hold of Siam legal just to handle the marriage Wiese and open up the bank account. I’m over it. I handled everything else on my own.

Why does being married require
***
the ‘deposit’ of a single when it’s presumably 2X people? Any idea as to the rationale?

Please: The answer can’t be “…well it’s Thailand hahahaha” That is so tiresome and besides it illiterates.

800k for retirement

400k for marriage

Your choice

฿800k for Non O based on retirement.

KBank allows you to transfer in USD$10,000 per day I believe but confirm this your bank.

Also your transfer from Australia should be 9,999 or less as government looks at transfers above this.

This is from the Wise website.

Other Thai Banks (including Krungthai): The limit is 500,000 THB per transaction.

Krungthai Bank (via SWIFT): Krungthai Bank's website states you can send up to 1,500,000 THB per transaction via SWIFT.

Krungthai Bank (via WARP): The limit is 500,000 THB per transaction using the WARP system (Krungthai Bank

according to Krungthai Bank's website.

im talking about the aaustralian govt checks for money laundering etc. Then the Thai govt checks as well.I did mine years ago when it was easy and only 1 or 2 days.So which banks are you talking about and post your source or its not true

800k for retirement. 400k for marriage. They're both the same visa(Non Imm O) but issued for different reasons.
Colin **********
The situation is fluid with transaction limits, the last I saw was 1.5mTHB bank to bank, 50kthb for wise and the like.
David *******
If you are applying for the ‘Retirement’ option then you need 800k. You can send as much as you like by bank transfer but your Australian bank might ask for reasons and flag for confirmation.

The marriage must be registered in Thailand
Nongnuch ********
@Ulrik ************
he can use his original marriage documents to apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O family visa in Australia. Once he has entered Thailand, he needs to get his marriage acknowledged inside Thailand, in order to be able to apply for the 1-year extension. He needs an embassy legalized translation of his original marriage documents, co-legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok or their office in Pattaya. With these legalized papers he can get his marriage acknowledged on an Amphur in Thailand
Jan ******************
@Ulrik ************
Not for a Non O in Australia.
Paul *******
Marriage visa is 400,000 but requires you to jump through more hoops than the easy to get Retirement visa which requires 800,000.
Todd **********
@Paul ******
Well that is why I will hire Siam legal to do the marriage visa and bank account. It’s $1000 US money and I think it will be good
Paul *******
@Todd *********
Do it yourself. 1,900 thb. it is more difficult that a Retirement Visa but easy enough if you granduated from primary school.
Todd **********
@Paul ******
Still didn’t answer my question? Can I come there and do it? I’ll have to buy a RT ticket then??
Gary **********
@Paul ******
what hoops are they then
Phillip ******
@Paul ******
depending on if the op wants to work. Marriage visa allows it. And its very easy, not sure what you mean by jumping through hoops I did mine in less then an hour. If you have everything ready and all the relevant doc's its simple.
Paul *******
@Phillip *****
Hoops? Need acceptable photos, need proof of marriage from Government office, wife has to go to Immigration with you, visit to your home by Immigration police and need a neighbour to speak on your behalf, do not get the visa on the day: Retirement does ot need any of those. And you did not get in less that an hour. You had to go back 14 days later to get it.
Phillip ******
@Paul ******
as i said if you have everything ready. And yes you need to go and make an appointment at witch time they will look over your documents then you go back for you appointment and it did take less then an hour. There was no visit to our home as I had the lease for more then a year and all the proof of a real marriage, we were married for over a year as well. Maybe we got lucky but it was easy because we did everything properly.
John *********
@Paul ******
so other than 400k THB more in the bank, what else

is needed for retirement if it is easier Paul?

Do you also have to state which one when applying for Type O in the UK?
Graham ******
@John ********
yes, there are multiple Non-O Visas so you choose then the requirements will present
Paul *******
@John ********
For Retirement visa, 800,000 thb in the bank and complete the copies and Immigration forms. You get the visa on same day as you apply as long as paperwork is correct. Different paperwork for each of the manyu Immigration Offices.

400K baht for marriage
Todd **********
@Jan *****************
It is.. I said my marriage is registered . I was understanding you had to go to a Thai Embassy in the USA. There’s only two in New York City in LA. I’m like what the hell so you’re saying I can go do that and apply online for that non- O visa, but then I think you gotta approve insurance and all that crap. I’d rather not do that. I wanna wait till I get there and buy some Thai insurance. I’m not buying anything that’s associated with the United States screw CIGNA and Humana.
Todd **********
@Jan *****************
Thank you very much
Jan ******************
@Todd *********
These are the general requirements for a Non O visa based on being married to a Thai (or having a Thai child). There’s normally no mandatory insurance requirement. Yes you can only apply online through the e-visa portal but it’s quite straightforward and the application will send you to the correct embassy/consulate that serves your location. If you apply before you go, you’ll make it a lot easier for your selv as the process in Thailand requires way more documentation and it will be more easy for you to open a bank account to bank the required 400K baht minimum two months prior to your one year extension of stay after the initial 90 days.

Roland **********
@Jan *****************
But then the marriage must be registered in Thailand.
Jan ******************
@Roland *********
Yes if he applies for the Non O visa based on marriage at an immigration inside Thailand.

He can still apply for a Non O in Australia and do extension of stay in Thailand after his marriage is registered at his local Amphure.😉
Todd **********
@Jan *****************
So you’re saying a guy can do the non O marriage visa in Thailand?? I get conflicting answers here cause I came back to the USA I’m married and it’s registered. I did that a week ago so all I have to do is show that at immigration and get the marriage visa and put the 400,000 baht in a bank account which they won’t give me unless I have a non O visa? Or marriage visa
Jan ******************
@Todd *********
Yes you can apply for a Non O visa based on being married to a Thai at the immigration in Thailand as well if your marriage is registered in Thailand, but it’s definitely best to apply online before you come as opening bank account and apply in Thailand easily become a catch 22 situation these days
Roland **********
@Jan *****************
But still!

The marriage must be registered in Thailand to apply for an Extension Married to a Thai😏

Yes, but this is quite normal procedure if you marry outside Thailand. Apply for a Non O visa with local documentation, get it verified and registered at Amphure for extension of stay within 90 days in Thailand and live happily in Thailand ever after.😏
John *********
@Jan *****************
hopefully that will be me in November
Roland **********
@Jan *****************
Just because it's a normal procedure for you!

Doesn't mean everyone knows about it.🤗😅
Jan ******************
@Roland *********
Normal procedure for people who marry outside Thailand and want to continue to live in Thailand later. And OP asked for requirements for a Non O visa in Australia which don’t have any registered in Thailand requirements.
Roland **********
@Jan *****************
Okay I read the question a little carelessly. I thought it was about applying for an Extension Married to a Thai in Thailand. Have a good day🤗👍
