Has anyone applied for a Non O (spouse) Visa in Australia? The Consulate in Melbourne are telling me I need $8,000 AUD, but from what I can see on the application form, this is for a Multi Entry Tourist Visa. For a Non Immigrant Visa it states 20,000 THB per person, or 40,000 THB per family. Confusion reigns!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the financial requirements for applying for a Non O (spouse) Visa at the Thai Consulate in Melbourne, Australia. The original poster is confused by differing information about the required bank balance, noting that the consulate requested $8,000 AUD, while the application form indicates a requirement of 20,000 THB per person. Other commenters added to the confusion, discussing various financial thresholds for visas at different consulates and how those differ from extension applications at local immigration offices.

I just close and delete comments made out of the blue. Please if you try to tell rules, regulations, application methods and requirements are changed back it up with something. Not I did apply and I needed to show my new driving license and had to tell the color of my fathers bicycle. As it sound strange, people do read your comment and directly believe that multiple confirmed flights are needed to get a Single Entry visa for Thailand. How do you enter multiple times on a single entry is a riddle for me, but people believe it
You prepared a bank account as told by the Embassy with a balance of 8000 AUD. I do not calculate exchange rates, but I guess it is more than the 20.000 Thb asked on the application form, more money in the bank is no problem. That is why they ask for a minimum and not a maximum.
I think that the section where $8,000 is mentioned is for multi entry Tourist visa.* Additional documents required for Tourist visa for Multiple Entries Copy of updated bank statement providing of adequate finances of AUD 8,000 per person (THB 200,000)
That is for an application of an Extension of Stay based on marriage to a National at your local Immigration Office, nothing to do with an application for a Visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate.
