TLDR : Answer Summary
The need for visas when traveling from Bangkok to Da Nang, Vietnam depends on your nationality. If you hold a British passport, you do not need a visa and can stay for up to 45 days. Your Thai girlfriend does not require a visa either, as Thai citizens receive a 30-day visa exemption upon arrival in Vietnam. However, always check the latest visa regulations and requirements based on your nationality and travel situation.

I wouldn't call it a ridiculous question, though I agree the OP should have provided more info and could have searched online first, assuming he didn't. A ridiculous question is like the one I saw asked yesterday: a guy who was going to fly from Bangkok to Sydney asked which side of the plane he should book a seat on so that he gets a good view of the Opera House as the plane comes into Sydney. Duh... it depends on the wind direction as to which direction the plane approaches from, right?

yes mate, it is a serious response, given how ridiculous the original question was. He did NOT mention what passports (his Thai gf may have another passport), they have, where they are travelling from, how long they intend to stay, or weather he has spent 5 minutes online to check at the govt immigration site.

Of course you will need a Vietnam visa to enter their country. That goes for you & your girlfriend, irrespective of which passport you may have.

That's incorrect. If his girlfriend has a Thai passport, she doesn't need a visa to enter Vietnam, only a passport.

i agree. Technically it may not be a visa, but you have to get your passport stamped at the border. That itself works like a entry permit/authorization. I am aware of this, as my wife is Thai too.

Vietnam has goofy visa rules, probably more goofy for Americans (they call it the American war).

I haven't been to Vietnam in 5+ years so my experience is out of date.. However, from what I recall, you will need to travel with crisp brand new US $20 to pay for anything government related.

Basically you buy a invite letter.. There are services to that provide this. You get the invite letter, print it out, take it with you. Once you arrive (before passport control) you go to an immigration office with the letter and crisp brand new $20's and buy your visa.

If you need to get a new Thai visa, you will also have to pay for that with crisp brand new $20's..

As I mentioned, things may have changed. If I were you I would search for "I am [your nationality] what are the requirements to visit Thailand" and do the same for your girlfriend, most likely her requirements are different.

you got that right! Kicked back for an upload being too large or too small. After a second attempt and getting the approval of visa, airport personnel found “another” error but were easily able to fix it $350 USD on the spot.

ya, I was out over 600+ US, my mistake though because being my second time there i assumed it hadn't changed but it did, lost hotel room, air for 2, so since I couldn't board the plane from BKK, I said to my wife, F%#k it! Let's go back to Cambodia again, so off we went...lol, I had to bounce out of Thailand for a few days anyway.

Hey, it's only money, I'll get to vung Tao another time. Happy trails my friend!

America doesn't win wars anymore, the government just spends money lining the pockets of the rich. WW2 was the last war and the revolutionary War was the first one that America won wars.

it's never enough, look at who's running the country.

No wars when Trump was president but now, we're just about in ww3.

You figure it out. To the elite, people don't matter, look at the murder by covid of the elderly population globally. Man made virus, created by and funded by American government, released by China, to decrease the surface population of the earth and control the remaining people (ya remember vaccine passports).

I Don't honestly think that you have an actual clue as to what's happening in our world but hey, as long as pizza gate is alive and well.

Plenty of little girls and boys being trafficked and American citizens being poisoned by the complying administration.
