TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation clarifies that visa requirements for Vietnam are primarily determined by nationality, not by the country of departure. Some nationalities receive visa exemptions, allowing them to enter Vietnam without a visa for a certain period, but this varies and does not imply that the visa is free for everyone. Particularly, British citizens can stay for 45 days visa-free, while other nationalities, such as Canadians, may not have the same privileges. It's recommended to check specific requirements according to one’s passport and to consult the Vietnam embassy information for the most accurate guidance.

It depends on your nationality if you get visa-free entry (which by the way is not the same as a free visa). And it has absolutely nothing to do where you travel from.

Why not just look google for Voetnam Embassy and read about visas for Vietnam. It will take you less than 5 minutes.

In FB you probably get the right answer too, but you dont know which of the 100 answers is then one that is correct.

You can apply online. Keep in mind that you need to apply a few days before travelling as the approval can take up to 5 days.

The price is about 800 thb or €20.

When you're too late and need to apply for a 24hrs fast track, the price can go up to €250

Not all EU countries need a visa...

"I. Visa Requirement

1. A visa is required to enter Vietnam unless it is exempted.

2. German nationals do not need a visa if:

- they will not stay in Vietnam for more than 45 days, including the arrival and departure days (a proof such as an onward or return ticket may be required at the border); and

- their passport is valid for at least six (06) months upon entry.

3. The visa-free stay of 45 days is recalculated with each entry, regardless of the last entry, which happened with or without a visa. A minimum period between the last exit and the visa-free entry is not required.

4. The regulations in points 2 and 3 also apply to nationals of France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Russia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus."

seems that you are right: "As of November 2023, regular passport holders of 26 countries DO NOT need a visa for Vietnam."

Unfortunately i'm not from the listed countries I'm from Belgium.

You can check your passport in the list for Vietnam visa exemptions.

It's not related where you depart.

No. Where you leave from has nothing to do with it. No country bases visas on what country you arrived from. It all depends on your passport. Some passports do not require a visa and some do. That is all that matters.
