Hey guys I have a colleague who has a non b Visa and wants to get an extension for a year but he is waiting for his work permit to be processed by the labour office , the problem is his non b is running out. So the question. Is it ok to use the receipt from the labour office along with the other documents and get the extension from the immigration office ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring if a colleague with a NON-B visa can extend it for a year while waiting for a work permit. Responses suggest that while a receipt from the labor office may be acceptable along with other documentation, it's best for the employer to handle immigration matters directly.

If you have all the other documents yes the receipt of application satisfies immigration.

Just how long has he been waiting ??? Its been known to never be received...and one finds themselves illegally working... without a work permit.

Many employers here are lazy or uninformed as to the particulars of a foreigner work permit & make U do all the "leg-work" to get one.

i guess you need much more than just a receipt of the labor office. Just let the employer sort this out with Immigration.
