TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can remain in Thailand on a Non-B (Non-Immigrant B) visa after their work permit expires, given that their visa is valid until August. It is advised to check if there is an "extension of stay" linked to employment, as failing to cancel this upon work permit expiration could lead to overstaying. Quick action with the necessary paperwork from the labor office is essential to avoid issues.

The letter I got from the labour office was merely a form showing my WP had been cancelled - nothing to do with tax. Nevertheless my employer(who cancelled it on my behalf) gave me that form too late in the day for me to go to immigration that day to get a Non Imm O based on retirement (I had all the paperwork ready). I went the next morning. I was charged 2 days overstay! Go figure😗

Your visa should run along aside your work permit

You should take Tod Daniels advice very seriously as you could be on over stay after the work permit runs out. This could also affect further employment in the future if actions aren't taken quickly

You will need a letter from the Labor office before going to the immigration.( Proof of no outstanding tax)

Look in your passport and see if you have an "extension of stay" based on employment from an immigration office.

If you do have an extension as soon as you cancel your work permit you need to go to the immigration office and cancel your extension. You cannot just stay on the extension until it runs out
