What should I do if my Non-B visa is about to expire and I haven't received all the documents for the extension yet?

Hello everyone, I have a 3 month non B visa, I also have a work permit now.

I need to extend my visa to 1 year non B. I was missing a few documents that my company is working to provide me. I am the first foriegner they hired so this process was new to them as well.

Problem is that my visa expires tomorrow. I might have the documents by EOD today, but it's a long shot. If I don't have my documents and visa expires, do I need to repeat the entire process? If my visa has expired can I even repeat the process since I am now over staying?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing an urgent issue regarding the expiration of their Non-B visa, which is set to expire soon. They need to extend it to a one-year Non-B visa but are missing some documentation required by their employer, who is new to hiring foreign workers. Responses from the community suggest that if the visa expires, the user may have to visit the immigration office and pay an overstay fine to potentially apply for an extension. However, the decision ultimately lies with the immigration office. Additionally, an update reveals that the user may face a significant overstay period, raising concerns about their options going forward.

An update, I have been backdated into SSO. But I won't get the reciept until December 12. Thats almost 2 weeks overstay. Am I totally screwed? And if so, should I just apply for a covid extension and try again?

My opinion: Don't overstay. You'll be paying a 6K THB overstay fine at the very least.

You'd also have to ask yourself if the company is actually submitting the documents correctly, or will there be more errors and more delays? Are they going to pay for your overstay fine?

But are you able to go from an overstay to an extension of stay based on employment? I think you can, but it'll be up to the immigration officer.

Remember too, you can't legally work without a work permit.

Then doesn't my Non-B expire? Can't I not extend a non-b if its not a non-b anymore but a covid extension

@Bashir ******
I’ve made two covid extensions on my expired Apr 2020 non-b

Did you eventually get an extension of stay based on employment?

@Benjamin *****
nope. First extension I took US embassy letter when they were giving them out when amnesty was up, no questions asked. Last extension this past week still no questions and no embassy letter.

Been told over and over I have to leave to get a new non-b. Haven’t tried recently tho, things possibly changing. I have teacher friends who were successfully able to do it who weren’t able to before like myself.

So are you a teacher? Richard Barrow was able to get some of his teachers a Non-B visa and extension of stay off the COVID-19 extensions.

@Benjamin *****
no, I’m not a teacher.

I recall the teachers in Barrow’s group who weren’t able to get it were similar to my situation

@Bashir ******
I would say yes, although as pointed out here, you can’t legally work in the interim

Bugger.....what a horrible situation to be in.

I hope you get a compassionate immigration officer.

You MIGHT, (as in maybe) be able to just pay the overstay fine and then apply for the extension BUT that's totally up to your immigration office on whether they'll do it or not.

All you can do is GO to the immigration office with someone from your company and ask them IN PERSON.

same here ok phuket

I have seen them do that, AND I have seen them tell people to start all over and apply for a new 90 day Non-B. It's 100% an immigration office call.
