Can I reapply for a DTV visa after being rejected in Vietnam?

Jan 19, 2026
I was refused a DTV visa in Vietnam. My documents are in order – I showed them to several people who had obtained the visa and were in situations similar to mine. My salary is significantly higher than the national average. I work in the IT sector. My bank balance is over 1 million baht (the funds have been sitting untouched for a year and a half; I simply accumulate savings there). I was planning to include my family.

I’ve heard that it’s possible to reapply in another country. To be honest, traveling with children is quite an adventure, so I wanted to ask whether there have been cases where an application was rejected in one country but approved in another.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user was refused a DTV visa in Vietnam despite having a well-prepared application, leading them to inquire about the possibility of reapplying successfully in another country. The discussion reveals mixed experiences, with some individuals having been approved in other locations after rejection elsewhere. Several comments suggest that recent fraud concerns have made it harder for applicants to get approved, regardless of their financial status or documents. Others recommend checking the details of the rejection thoroughly and considering professional help from visa agencies.

When I applied in Ho Chi Min, they did not accept my bank account that had “untouched” money. They told me my visa would only be approved if I could provide a bank account with evidence of money going in and out.

Rejected or canceled? What is your nationality? Were your funds in a personal savings account? Did you stay in Hanoi the entire time? Any request for additional documents?

Random thought. We got DTV’s when they first came out and there was a weird computer glitch that took the data from your passport bio page and added a space either after your passport number or name. At the time people were getting rejected for it. The fix was to manually enter your data, let the computer update it and then go back in and manually correct it. Hopefully that’s been fixed, but if not check for extra spaces after your data. I would think that would be cause for reconsideration.

with my passport upload, when the pop up asks me if my details are correct, it says my middle name begins with K (it doesn’t) but it doesn’t update the input field

What was the status of your DTV? Did it ever go to “pending approval” or was it rejected/cancelled right away?

I am a anon account. Trust nothing that I tell you. This week there has been almost dozens applicants posting how happy they are to be approved for their DTV from Vietnam. Be me I am an anon account. I just want to confuse people. I am more than likely an over 40 European that don’t want others in Thailand because I look at it as my own country. Though it is not. But you can stop me…. Because I am an anon account. Meaning I have to take no accountability because I am an anon account

Also, was the application rejected or cancelled? Share a screenshot of the mail you received.

Honestly, I’ve gotten used to Vietnam. I’m still here and not rushing to Thailand. I’ll probably go in another couple of months, but it’s good to know there’s a country in the region that will accept me reliably.

What is your nationality? Having 1M THB or equivalent currency makes no difference to 500k THB

Which type of DTV did you apply for soft option or workcation?

your chances of approval do not change depending on your savings. 500k vs 500 million has the same chance of approval. It’s irrelevant

Where you got the info it is irrelevant?

I not say it is relevant, but I also never have seen the instructions for the employees of the embassies, but you seem to know this better.

the requirement is 500k baht. It is not easier for someone with 1m baht compared to someone with the 500k.

the requirement is minimum 500k, that does not necessary mean there is no difference.

When only checks on minimum requirements were done, the application process could be done with a computer, there is a reason why they use employees to decide.

Those employees get a lot of instructions how to do the process, so unless you have inside information, you cannot tell there is no difference, making it just a guess.

it's irrelevant as long as you hit the minimum. Your nationality and what the official thinks you would do in Thailand have more bearings. Assuming your logic of more money would make a difference was correct, which in fact isn't, those Chinese criminals would sure be qualified to have DTV since they got more money that you can ever be dreaming of but still they are kicked by Thai immigration. Even regular Chinese are under strict scrutiny because of some of their fellow compatriots.

lol ok bro whatever you want to believe 😂 the post is literally from someone with over a million baht getting denied and you still think having more money dictates whether you get approved or not? The evidence is right in front of your face 😂

never use western logic in Thailand, the mindset is completely different

What nationality is the applicant, what’s his travel history to Thailand etc We need to know more, to be rejected must mean they aren’t happy about something?

that’s not the issue we are specifically talking about.. obviously there’s a million factors that could be at play. This comment thread is about bro thinking having more than 500k increases chances of being approved.

Why should it not make difference? Approval of visa is not exact science. Embassy employees have to decide not only on complying to MINIMAL requirements, but have to get an idea about what kind of applicant it is.

You can comply to all requirements, and still got rejected, because embassy employee has a feeling you are not the right person for a specific visa.

The Workation DTV visa has become difficult to obtain due to widespread fraud by digital visa agencies that submitted not real documents. As a result, this issue now affects everyone: genuine digital nomads can no longer easy obtain a DTV Workation visa because Thai embassies no longer trust these applications after too many cases involving completely not real documents. Thai embassies in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Jakarta are the most affected by this problem.

Anonymous participant 943 The Immigration office in Chiang Mai have said they won't extend DTVs issued from neighbouring countries. They can't be sure the documents you used were genuine is the reason.

Alex Ni after, accepting applications from any country make it very difficult for them to check the legitimacy of the documents. They can't know the "certificate of incorporation" for all countries in the world for example etc...

There will be something wrong or amiss in your application I would suggest getting someone to double check it, you can even try dropping the docs into ai and see if it can give you any pointers. Not enough info in your post to comment as to if it will be accepted somewhere else

Perhaps you should figure out first what didn't work with your application. There are several cases of people reapplying again in another country and being approved but also a lot of cases when they got rejected again.
