Hi everyone, I’m in Thailand on a British passport, I have been across the boarder into Loa , re-entered Thailand and received a 60day stamp , I now wish to stay longer .. If I fly to Vietnam for a weeks stay and then return to Thailand by air will I receive another 60day stamp ?? Also can I just fly into Vietnam or do I have to have a Visa before arrival ?? TIA …. 😐

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand with a 60-day stamp after re-entering from Laos. They are considering flying to Vietnam to stay for a week and then returning to Thailand, inquiring if they would receive another 60-day stamp upon re-entry and whether a visa is required for Vietnam. Responses suggest checking the total days spent in Thailand in recent months and highlight that a visa is needed for Vietnam, which can be arranged online. Other comments caution about immigration officer discretion and suggest obtaining a proper visa to avoid uncertainty.

Visa required before going to Vietnam, can do online. Phenomenal Penh Cambodia has visa on arrival, they prefer US Dollars, cost may vary based on country, check online.

U.K. passport holders can enter Vietnam visa exempt for 45 days.

U.S. and U.K are two different countries with different Vietnam immigration policies. The initial poster is U.K. citizen.

Get a visa and take away the uncertainty. However get another 60 days and they might flag you as a possible tax resident.

Unlikely as he's a tourist

Listen, when you arrive in Vietnam, just tell the IO that you are running away from the freezing weather in England and they will give you a free 45 day entry.

That would depend on the immigration officer you will stand in front of on your return. Why not get the appropriate visa for your stay and improve your odds?

if you’re in Chiang Mai get in touch with the Colonel opposite CNX immigration , they’ll tell you what you need to know and how to go about 👌

Why not get the 30 day tourism extension? UK passports get 45 days free on entering Vietnam, no visa.

So, in total how many total days in the last six months have you been in Thailand on visa exempt or extensions ?

it always depends on the Thai immigration officer, but you seem to be close to longterm stay and might be questioned.

If you are planning more extended stay in Thailand, you might want to get some sort of visa.
