Hi everyone, I’m in Thailand on a British passport, I have been across the boarder into Loa , re-entered Thailand and received a 60day stamp , I now wish to stay longer .. If I fly to Vietnam for a weeks stay and then return to Thailand by air will I receive another 60day stamp ?? Also can I just fly into Vietnam or do I have to have a Visa before arrival ?? TIA …. 😐

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user wants to know if flying to Vietnam for a week will allow them to re-enter Thailand and receive another 60-day stamp on their British passport. While several commenters provided varying advice, some confirmed it's possible to get another stamp, while cautioning about the potential for immigration scrutiny. Additionally, advice regarding the necessity of a visa for Vietnam was discussed, where obtaining a visa before arrival was recommended.

There is no Thai Embassy in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Royal Thai Embassy is located in Jakarta, which is the capital of Indonesia. Yogyakarta residents or those in surrounding regions needing consular services would typically need to visit the Thai Embassy in Jakarta or use its consular services via their online platform.

Jaysus! Some of the answers… Your plan is perfectly fine. There will be no issues on either end. You can however extend your 60 day Thai exemption by 30 days for 1900 baht at any immigration office

Visa required before going to Vietnam, can do online. Phenomenal Penh Cambodia has visa on arrival, they prefer US Dollars, cost may vary based on country, check online.

U.S. and U.K are two different countries with different Vietnam immigration policies. The initial poster is U.K. citizen.

do you not understand that the person posting the question has a UK passport. His requirements are different than you as a U.S. passport holder. In your text about needing a Vietnam visa, nowhere did you qualify that this is a U.S. passport requirement.

Just because you needed a visa does not mean everyone from different countries need a visa.

Do you get it now ?

Things to know

Hide

Unlike other countries such as Cambodia and Thailand where visas can be obtained upon landing at border gates, Vietnam requires travelers to apply for a pre-approved visa letter through a travel/visa agency in order to get the visa stamp upon arrival.

The 15 day free visa exemption has been extended to June 2025 for the passport holders from United Kingdom, France, - Spain, Italy and Germany. Travellers from these countries can travel to Vietnam without a visa for 15 days, longer term visas can be obtained through visa on arrival or at the local embassy.

As of November 2014, visitors who fly directly to Phu Quoc airport and stay on the island are exempt from the entry visa requirement for up to 30 days.

Get a visa and take away the uncertainty. However get another 60 days and they might flag you as a possible tax resident.

Listen, when you arrive in Vietnam, just tell the IO that you are running away from the freezing weather in England and they will give you a free 45 day entry.

That would depend on the immigration officer you will stand in front of on your return. Why not get the appropriate visa for your stay and improve your odds?

Why not get the 30 day tourism extension? UK passports get 45 days free on entering Vietnam, no visa.

it always depends on the Thai immigration officer, but you seem to be close to longterm stay and might be questioned.

If you are planning more extended stay in Thailand, you might want to get some sort of visa.
