Hello,

I currently have a 60-day stamp that has been extended by 30 days, valid until February 7th. However, my girlfriend and I plan to travel to India from January 3rd to January 15th, and then return to Thailand from January 15th to January 30th to celebrate a holiday with friends.

Will we receive a new visa stamp upon re-entry, or are we allowed to leave and re-enter Thailand without issues?

After that, we plan to travel to New Zealand for a few weeks and then return to Thailand around mid-March for another three weeks. And leave the country to go to Vietnam.

Will this be a problem? Our nationalities are Dutch and British.

Thank you in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about their travel plans involving leaving Thailand and returning multiple times, along with visa implications. The community responses clarify that upon exiting Thailand, the current visa stamp will be voided, but the user will receive a new 60-day visa exemption stamp upon re-entry. However, it's advised to be prepared for possible questioning by immigration officers, including having proof of onward travel, accommodation details, and sufficient funds.

Once you leave Thailand and re enter thailand, you will get new 60 days visa exemption with 30 days extension

Should be fine as it looks like normal tourist behaviour, not someone trying to live here.

Just to correct your terminology though you get visa exempts stamps, not a visa. Yes you will just be given new ones if you have no problems.

Your current stamp will be voided upon exit, you are eligible for another free 60 day visa exempt entry stamp upon return.

IF you had obtained the METV multiple entry tourist visa before you arrived into Thailand, you wouldn't have a problem with your plan.

However as you are using VISA EXEMPT ENTRY each time you enter Thailand with 30 day extensions, be prepared for questions from Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival.

Be sure to have proof of your flight ✈️ departing Thailand within the number of days you are STAMPED in for each arrival.

Along with the address of where you are staying, at least for the first week...

And 20,000 Thai baht in cash or foreign currency, to show if asked.

Otherwise, As Dutch and British passport holders, you should be okay with your travel plans.

And in case, it isn’t if I don’t trust you. But can I read the rules somewhere? I really need to be sure!

I won't answer for James but when I want info about the rules, I go to the Thai Consulate online site in Vancouver. But you have to be careful checking the Consulate site. Right now it still says Canadians can stay for 30 days visa exempt but in another spot it has the updated info re the 60 exemption.

@Sharon ******
that's why many times, the Thai Embassy or Consulate are wrong with the information posted on their websites.
