Can I Obtain a Second 60-Day Extension on a Non-O Visa and Qualify for a 1-Year Extension with Online Income?

Need some advice please.

Part 1:

I have a Non-O Multi based on marriage. My current extension date expires Jun 13 but my actual visa is valid until 2021. Given the circumstances would it be possible to get a second 60day extension? Typically I do visa runs to the Andaman club every 90 days but can’t at the moment due to borders closed and I worry about how the Andaman office will handle it. Once I was asked for a "gift" to get stamped out because I had so many thai stamps in my passport. If I wait out the Amnesty date to go I don't want to give them any reason to have issues. I want everything to be on the up-and-up.

Part 2:

I don’t have 400k in the bank but I heard that 40k/mo is also ok. If I make an income from online web consulting between 60-90k THB (from USA companies only) and affiliate marketing. Will that allow me to get a 1 year extension? Im not sure how that works if money would go into my American bank account and I take out money in a Thai ATM and deposit it back into Thai Account. I read that the US embassy doesn’t provide income verification so in this scenario would if I would qualify for the 1 year extension what would I need? Copies of the last 6 months of my thai bank book showing cash deposits?

Also would they ask where that money came from and would that be an issue being a "digital nomad"?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a second 60-day extension for their Non-O visa based on marriage, given the current inability to conduct visa runs due to closed borders. They also ask if their online income of 60-90k THB would qualify them for a 1-year extension, as they do not meet the 400k THB in the bank requirement, suggesting the need to show evidence of monthly deposits. Comments from the community clarify that the only option may be the amnesty or applying for a long-term extension, but suggest careful management of funds and documentation for successful processing.

you take the amnesty until the end of July, see what the news is as far as borders re-opening and just bounce out and back on the currently valid Non-O visa like always and get a new 90 day entry stamp.

I think you're going to have to transfer the money into your thai bank account from abroad NOT be using an ATM to pull out cash and then depositing it into your thai account

The rule is proof that 40K baht a month each month every month for the preceding 12 months before you apply for your yearly extension is transferred in from abroad.

Thanks, Im going to rethink how I do things moving forward. Its so much easier, faster and cheaper to do it my current way but if I need that extension I might have to sacrifice.

Although I dont mind the border bounces as it gives me some time away from the house. This is definitely something to consider.

Thank you for your time and response.

No, your only options is to go on the automatic amnesty, OR to acquire a 1 year extension of stay based on being married to a Thai national.

>Once I was asked for a "gift" to get stamped out because I had so many thai stamps in my passport

Not good; I recommend using another border if possible.

Great question. I would ask your local immigration office for the handout and their expectations, but I believe if you show the proof of cash deposit it *MAY* be accepted.

>Also would they ask where that money came from and would that be an issue being a "digital nomad"?

I don't think they would, just don't tell them you're working online.

Oh also, Lets say they do ask in that situation... Perhaps passive online income would be the answer and leave out the consulting part?

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

The Gift part happened one time out of 20+ times in my 9 years here. I went by myself a couple years ago instead of with a friend or family member or with a van service. Ever since that time I get worried it would happen again so I make sure someone is always with me.
