Hello!

I am on Non immigrant type O visa, "Thai Wife" and is stamped in until October 31.

I have tried to find the answers to all these questions both in here and on the government sites, but I'm unable too, perhaps due to permanent overload of my brain...

I don't have the funds to extend "Thai wife" for one year yet, so I would like to do a combination of:

30 day tourism extension (but unsure if I can on non-o?)

60 day covid extension

60 day visiting family - My wife and biological Thai son. (Does it matter that they entered Thailand together with me?)

My thought here is to do the 30 day extension first, (to get "maximum" value out of the covid extension.)

Then do 60 day covid, and finally a 60 day family.

During my covid extension I will get the funds to apply for one year wife extension during the end of the family extension.

Do all offices have the same service?

Do I need to book? (how?)

For the thai wife extension I know 400 000b have to be seasoned in my bank account for 2 months, and that they do NOT have to be transferred in from abroad. Bank statement has to be from the day I apply. But what's the timeline for the application? How many days do they need to decide? Do I need to apply a month before my final day in Thailand draws near, or is 2 weeks enough?

I am late with my TM30 also. Should I go in (where?) to fix that BEFORE my extension, or can I do it same time, same place?

You guys are providing an invaluable service for people here! Did you ever consider putting up a link for donations? (if not for beer money, it could be for Soi dogs, food donations or something similar, I'm sure many of us would be more than happy to pay it forward) πŸ™

Thank you so much for your help, and sorry for my 1000 questions πŸ™„ If they are too plentiful just answer those you want. Everything helps!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their Non-O visa (based on having a Thai wife) which expires on October 31. They wish to know if they can first obtain a 30-day tourism extension, followed by a 60-day COVID extension, and then a 60-day family visit extension, while also addressing their late TM30 filing. Respondents clarified that a 30-day tourism extension is not permitted but suggested they could opt for the COVID and family visit extensions. They provided detailed documentation and pricing requirements for each extension type and noted the varying policies among immigration offices. The user is also considering a one-year extension based on raising a half-Thai child, which has no seasoning requirement. Concerns about timelines for applications and the handling of the TM30 notice were also discussed.

Thank you sooo much Benjamin Hays!

I will do the covid extension, and then do it again a week before Nov 26:th.

Great info on the child extension too. :-) He is only 6 years old so I will have to bring his Thai passport instead of ID card.

I will try to get the Embassy income letter, and if that fails I will use 400 000bath.

Do they have to stay in the account even after the under consideration is stamped out too?

@Benjamin *****
Yes I did but they didn't show me any paper or something.just they said it's okay.only one month is enough.

Once the "under consideration" stamp is closed out, then you can withdraw the money, otherwise you could get the extension of stay denied.
RJ **************
Benjamin Hays Last year they asked me at least 1 month seasoning about the 400k baht.

Bcoz I do the extension based on raising half -Thai child.at Changwattana imm.

@RJ *************
Did you ask them to show you the rules where it requires a one month seasoning?

[Facebook cut off my last post for being too long)]

If 400K THB seasoning is a problem, you can apply for a one year extension of stay based on raising half-Thai child. This requires 400K THB, but NO seasoning requirements. Different immigration offices have different requirements but all require the following:

1. Your passport and a copy of:

a. The data β€œpicture” page.

b. The most recent visa (if applicable).

c. The most recent entry stamp or extension of stay (if applicable).

d. The departure card (β€œTM 6”) that should be stapled in the passport.

e. A TM 30 filed at the local immigration office

2. The extension of stay application form (β€œTM 7”).

3. 2x passport sized (4cm by 6cm) photos.

4. The child physically next to the applicant, and:

- The ID card and a front and back copy of the ID card.

- The housebook, and a copy of the first page.

5. To meet the financial requirements of:

- 400,000 in a Thai bank account, no seasoning requirements, OR;

- 40,000 THB in monthly income OR;

- A letter from the embassy stating the applicant receives 40,000 THB a month in income. If the embassy offers the income letter, the income method can not be used.

6. The original and copy of a court order granting parental rights, or an original and copy of a marriage certificate.

7. 1,900 THB processing fee.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, and may include:

- A hand drawn map to the house.

- Pictures of the parent and child in various locations in the house (front of the house/ condo, in all rooms, etc).

- Rental contract (if renting property or a condo).

There is an under consideration period for this extension of stay. This may include an at-home visit by the immigration office to confirm the husband and wife are living together, interviews with neighbors, and if using the banked money method, to confirm the money is still in the bank account. The immigration office will give a list of the documents required to bring when the under consideration stamp is closed out.

> don't have the funds to extend "Thai wife" for one year yet, so I would like to do a combination of:

30 day tourism extension (but unsure if I can on non-o?)

60 day covid extension

60 day visiting family - My wife and biological Thai son. (Does it matter that they entered Thailand together with me?)

Sadly, you can not get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism. You CAN get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to tourism, and a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family.

You can get "unlimited" 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. The last day they are selling them is November 26.

For this extension of stay, different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. [ May not be asked for at Bangkok Immigration] A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms). For Bangkok Immigration, they are found on this group.

4. [ Not asked at Bangkok Immigration] A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

Once you ran out of your 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, then you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family. Different immigration offices have different requirements, but they all require the following:

1. Your passport and a copy of:

- Your data ("picture") page

- Your Non-O visa

- Your entry stamp

- Your departure card

2. Your wife PHYSICALLY next to you, and

- Her ID card and a copy of her ID card

- Her housebook, and a copy of the first page

4. Marriage certificate (either the rose border certificate, OR a translated copy from your home country)

5. MAYBE an updated Kor Ror 2 showing the marriage is current, acquired from the local amphur office for 20 THB.

6. The application form

7. 2x passport pictures

8. 1,900 THB for the processing fee.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, and may include:

- A copy of the TM30 filed where the applicant lives.

- A hand drawn map to the house.

- Pictures of the parent and child in various locations in the house (front of the house/ condo, in all rooms, etc).

- Rental contract (if renting property or a condo).

>Do all offices have the same service?

There are 70+ immigration offices in Thailand. You can only apply for an extension of stay in the province you reside. All immigration offices do not sell all extension of stays (Bangkok is well known for dividing roles among various immigration offices).

>Do I need to book? (how?)

Depends on the immigration office. I don't believe any have online booking services though.

> But what's the timeline for the application? How many days do they need to decide? Do I need to apply a month before my final day in Thailand draws near, or is 2 weeks enough?

The money must be seasoned for two months before you apply. When there is 45 days or less remaining on your existing "admitted to" stamp (some immigration offices require 30 days), you can apply for a one year extension of stay based on marriage. ASK your local immigration office.

In theory, you can apply up to the last day, but I *DO NOT* recommend this.

>I am late with my TM30 also. Should I go in (where?) to fix that BEFORE my extension, or can I do it same time, same place?

You would talk to the property owner about submitting the TM30 for you. IF you live in Bangkok, you would go to Muang Thong Thani, Counter B, and you can self file. See
