Hello.

My first 180 days will expire on January 27th. Can I simply leave the country and come back in and get a new 180 days?

Suppose I left on January 24th and came back in on January 25th, would I get a new 180 days from January 25th? Or would my old visa hold precedent and it only give me the remaining 2 days left on that visa?

Thank you for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can exit Thailand before their current 180-day entry stamp expires and immediately re-enter to receive a new 180-day stamp. Responses clarify that exiting cancels the current stamp, and re-entering will typically grant a fresh 180-day entry stamp. However, there are anecdotal exceptions, and some recommend timing the exit to coincide with the expiration for guaranteed results.

It should be a fresh 180 days each time, but there was a post where someone did what your going to do and they kept the original date. If I was you I'd return after the original one expires and guarantee a fresh stamp.

You can simply go to your local immigration and get another 180 days

immigration will likely ask for all new documentation. If you look up YT video by the Thai govt official. Embassy's and immigration are separate entities. Best exit and re-enter.

might not be simple, as you'll need to pay. True that going abroad is not free either, but if arrange as part of a business of family trip, it means no extra charges.

yes the charge is 1900 baht at the local immigration after the first 180 days

After that 2nd 180 days you then need to leave and reenter

You're confusing a VISA (valid for 5 years) with your entry stamp which is 180 days

The visa is unlimited entry,

each entry gets you a NEW 180 day ENTRY STAMP,

whether you stay the whole time of the stamp or not, when you leave that stamp cancels

and

when you come back in you get stamped in for a whole new 180 day entry stamp

When you exit your current stamp is voided, when you re-enter you get a fresh 180 day stamp.
