My tourist visa (60 days) plus extension (30 days) will expire on Aug 20. Can I fly out to KL and come back to Thailand on the same day with a new 30 days visa exempt? So basically I go through immigration into Malaysia and immediately check in again on the next available flight?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user wants to know if they can leave Thailand and return the same day to obtain a new 30-day visa exempt entry after their current tourist visa and extension expire. The comments provide insights that, while possible, they should be ready to present evidence such as 20,000 baht in cash, proof of onward travel, and hotel booking upon re-entry.

Tod. What if coming with a child doing a visa exempt? Would I have to show more than 20k baht? Would a bank statement be ok?

Thai baht or other currencies are fine....but must be CA$H. There are NO ATM machines before you reach Immigration.

You can, but be prepared to possibly be questioned by the people at passport control and asked to show proof of 20K baht in cash, proof of onward travel in 30 days and proof of a hotel booking (all things they can ask for)
