Can I leave Thailand and re-enter during my 60-day tourism visa while maintaining my stay validity?

I'm entering Thailand on 7/01/24 and intend leaving on 05/05/24.

I have a return ticket.

I intend applying for a 60 day tourism visa which I can then renew twice for 30 days each, which takes me up to the 120 days I am there.

Can I leave Thailand for a neighbouring country during the 60 day period and re-enter and the remaining days are still valid.

Thanks

Edit: I have a UK passport if that's relevant.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for a 60-day tourism visa upon entering Thailand on January 7, 2024, and wants to know if they can leave for a neighboring country during this period and still retain the remaining days of their visa upon re-entry. Comments clarify that if they have a single-entry tourist visa, they can extend their stay by 30 days at an immigration office. However, to extend further or refresh their stay, they must execute a 'border bounce' and may need a re-entry permit to maintain their original entry stamp. It's important to note that the user can only apply for one extension on the 60-day visa.

Don t apply too near the time if flight at London thai embassey I applied3rd week in June gone without it and its 14 July still not got it

If you leave during your FIRST 60 days then you can get a re-entry permit to keep the original 60 Day stamped in date valid. BUT on re-entry will only be stamped in for the remainder of the initial 60 day stamp.

I have

0 deposited in a Thai bank. Can I apply for a 'retirement visa' within the 60 day period and would it be processed during my 120 day stay?

Should I start a new thread for this?

Thanks

Yes. Suggest you visit your local Thai Immigration office and ask them for their list of requirements for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

you definitely can get a retirement visa in that time no sweat

First of all, you can apply for only ONE 30 days extension on your SETV entry. not twice, so it's up to 90 days max.

You can do a trip with a re-entry permit to keep your current stamp alive during your tourist visa entry for 60 days and 30 days extension.

As you have a UK passport, you may be able to enter Thailand on visa exempt for 30 days, but maybe a risk of being rejected after a few times entry.

If you want to travel around with multiple entries to Thailand, maybe you want to consider getting a multiple-entry tourist visa. It could also be cost-effective.

The extension at the immigration office is 1900 thb. Re-entry permit is 1000 thb for single, 3800 thb for multiple re-entry.

It states on the Official Thai Visa site 'If you are applying for Multiple Entries, you need to prove that you have a genuine reason to visit Thailand on a regular basis'.

Can I apply for this and what reason would I give because I'm not sure I fulfil the requirements. ie not married to a Thai national...no Thai children.

Dont want to get off topic .But do they still do double entry 60 day tourist visas from UK ?. Have a friend wants to stay 4 or 5 months from Dec on.

@Barry ******
get the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country. With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a couple border bounces. And Yes, please Ask your question in a New Post.

You can only extend a tourist visa once for 30 days. Unless I'm missing something.

Yes you can leave and come back but you need to get a re-entry permit from immigration or airport.

If you want 120 days out of a 60 day visa you will have e to leave the country anyway for a border bounce.

Your options are

60 visa

Extend 30 days in country 1900

Border bounce 30 day exempt.

Or

30 day visa exempt entry.

30 extension at immigration office.

Border bounce for another 30 day visa exempt.

Extend 30 days at immigration.

I think one of these is my best option!

These are the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay at Thai Immigration office. Be sure to have a TM30 on file with them.

Yes, if you have a multiple entry visa. Otherwise you may get a 30 day visa exemption (depending on what passport you have). Visa exemption is extendable by a further 30 days at an immigration office. 1900 baht

Multiple entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months. It gives you 60 days each entry within the 6 months.

you need to show a flight into Thailand, a flight out within 60 days and another flight into Thailand. That's justification for multiple entries.
James ********
IF you obtain the single entry tourist visa SETV using the Evisa online application system, you will be stamped in for 60 days on arrival into Thailand.

PLUS one... Yes Only One...30 day extension of stay is available at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

To stay longer , you will need to do a BORDER BOUNCE to an adjoining SE Asian country, reenter Thailand and be STAMPED in for a New 30 days as Visa Exempt Entry.

That can also get a 30 day extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office.
