Hi I've been on a non Imm B visa working as a teacher for the past 8years. I finish working at the school at the end of this month when my visa runs out. I just need to stay in Thailand another month before I go back to the Uk.

To get a 30day tourist exempt can I just fly to KL and fly back on the same day?

As I've heard they are cracking down on people flying in and out on the same day.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can leave Thailand for a day (flying to Kuala Lumpur) to obtain a 30-day tourist exemption after their Non-Immigrant B visa expires as a teacher. They have concerns about potential strict checks on day trips for visa purposes. Comments provide mixed advice, including the necessity to properly cancel their work permit and discuss other border options like Kanachanburi.

Working for the past 8 years as a teacher and you went every 90 days abroad to buy a new Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa? I guess you went once a year to the Immigration office and applied for an Extension of Stay and report yourself every 90 days to the Immigration Office. meaning you can NOT just leave, you have to cancel YOUR work permit at the Ministry of Labor and you have to cancel YOUR Extension of Stay at the Immigration office, both has to be cancelled on the last day of you working with documentation of your employer.

whether that will work or not is totally up to the immigration officer you get when you try to stamp back into the country. In theory it should work, in practicality it's up to the officer you're gonna get stamping in

great thanks.

And then it's OK to fly to kl then back to Thailand to get a tourist exempt visa for 30days?

, do it about a week before hand. Go cancel your work permit, take that and your termination letter form your company (that is dated stating your last day is the day you're leaving), to the immigration office, they'll cancel your extension and stamp you in until that date and then you can just leave.

l then you're not on ANY Non-B visa you're on a yearly extension and you will need to cancel that (along with your work permit) BEFORE you leave thailand

great OK thanks for the info.

I'll check with my school.

I didn't go out every 90days and buy a new B visa. I just did my 90day check in and the school renewed my visa and work permit each year.

I don't know. what's your nationality? I also suggest bouncing out at Kanachanburi/ Myanmar border, if your passport allows you to. They don't let you out of Thailand unless they can let you back in at that border.

Probably a round-trip flight to Malaysia and back would be best and fastest. I don't imagine any problems.
