What are my options for staying in Thailand for 60 days after my work permit is canceled?

Sorry if this question was asked before already:

So I just wanted to know what my options are... my work permit will be soon canceled (around 1week from today) and I am on an extension of stay here in Thailand. I know that if my work permit will be canceled I have to go to immigration to cancel my extension and than have to leave before midnight thailand...

so my question is:

I would like to stay still around 60 days in Thailand.

Option 1:

Is it possible to just take a flight at night to a neighbor country maybe eat there dinner and than fly back to Thailand and get a visa exemption stamp ? ( do I really have to show them another flight outside of Thailand within 30 days ?) and will it be easy for me to extend it another 30 days ?

Option 2:

Should I try to make an appointment with the embassy in Laos and apply for a tourist visa ?

The problem with this is... i would need to get the 7 days extension first and I also can’t book yet my flight or hotel in Laos since I don’t know how long it takes to get an appointment....

Additional info: i never entered Thailand before in visa exemption stamp I only had 1 single entry Ed visa and 1 multiple entry Ed visa both issued in Germany for my prior internship here in Thailand.....

Would appreciate any help since I am quite limited on time....

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on how to stay in Thailand for about 60 days after their work permit will soon be canceled. They inquire about two options: (1) flying to a neighboring country and returning for a visa exemption stamp, questioning the requirement for proof of onward travel, and the ease of extending their stay; (2) applying for a tourist visa through the embassy in Laos, facing potential challenges with appointment scheduling. Comments provide suggestions on both bouncing between land borders for visa exemptions or applying for a visa at a designated embassy, with some users successfully sharing their experiences and advice.

If you don't have TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land yet this year I'd say bounce out and back in by LAND.

Trying to fly out and back in can make you subject to more scrutiny when you go to stamp in ESPECIALLY if you're just bouncing out and back to just get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

If you're in bangkok, this company leaves every day at 4:30 from the Tesco Lotus parking lot at On Nut to go to take people to the border for visa exempt entry stamps

Did you log into the Vientiane system and see what appointments were available for a tourist visa?

You don't mention your nationality but you could go to the border, stamp out, stamp in&out of another country and stamp back in to get a 30 day visa exempt entry (IF you're from a country that can do this and IF you don't have TWO 30 day visa exempt entries yet this year)

thanks really appreciate your help... I am just a bit overwhelmed with the situation since I just got notified about everything 2days ago... I will definitely try to book an appointment first and in case I am not able to get a tourist visa try to enter on visa exempt through land border

@Kilian ****
, I guess you didn't go to the online appointment system for Vientiane and make a user name/profile yet?

If you had you would see there are appointments on the 3rd of Sept.

Please believe me I have no problem giving visa advice to people on this group BUT you're gonna hafta put some effort into it too, I mean after all YOU need the visa not me..

i am German...

I honestly didn’t know that I can check what appointments are available ahead of time... will do this today....

So for the visa exempt entry if I do this with taking a flight somewhere and book a return flight on the same day it would work ?

Would it be enough that I show them a flight back to Germany within 60 days ? Not 30 ?

You shouldn’t have a problem with doing a land border bounce to get a 30 day visa exemption and then extend for another 30 days, but you should have proof of an onward journey within 60 days of entry. Flying adds a little bit more risk should you be denied.

Yes, for land border bounce it's straightforward as Immigration knows you can extend by 30 days. For airlines, some do not care and want it within 30 days.

@Dominic ****
so if I have a booked flight back to Germany within 60 days i should be good right ?

Try to go with agent and apply for TR visa at savanakhet, they have schedule this upcoming September. should be good for your case. If failed you can use 2x exemptions so would be total 60 days.

Prepare for bank account with at least 20K printed on the book, dont forget to bring money in case they want to see and onward ticket. You can buy onward ticket from internet with under 10$, just google it.
