TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of leaving Thailand after their 90-day tourist visa to Kuala Lumpur and then returning for a normal 30-day entry. Comments indicate that while leaving is feasible, the user would return on a visa exemption and should have proof of funds if questioned by immigration. Some emphasize that the term '30-day tourist visa' is misleading as it refers to visa-exempt entry, not an actual visa. It is also suggested to consider applying for another single-entry tourist visa while in Kuala Lumpur.

That might be an option. I have regular income of over

0 B per annum. But I think I have to get a letter proving that translated and certified by Australian embassy which might mean a trip to Bangkok. For my wife i expect we need a Thai Bank account and

, you definitely need the original marriage certificate and depending on the immigration office you might need it translated into thai, certified as accurate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office here too.

If it's a UK marriage certificate you have a whole SLEW of hoops to jump thru to get the certificate certified :/

? a Thai doesn't need ANY visa to be here, your foreign spouse can piggy back on your yearly extension. Providing you mis-typed he and really have a she as your wife because thailand doesn't recognize same sex marrages.

Tod Daniels but she is not Thai

Your wife would "piggy back" onto your yearly extension <- meaning she doesn't show any finances or anything other than she's legally married to someone on a year long extension here

you would just go to the australian consulate here in Bangkok and fill out what's called a stat-dec (statutory declaration) you put down what you get a month and they notarize it. As long as you put down over 65K baht a month the immigration office will accept it as proof of income from abroad without question.

, ahh now that's a horse of a different color. You can indeed get a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type O <- note there is no A) visa from either the thai consulate or the immigration office BUT you need to provide proof of funds to do that as well. Then once you have that you can apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office by meeting the financial requirements too

you do know that when you entered the country on a tourist visa you were stamped in for 60 days NOT 90 right? In order to stay 90 days on a tourist visa you have to go to the immigration office and apply for a 30 day extension.

Also there is no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa :/ When you come back if you didn't buy a visa you'd enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Just curious, why not just get another single entry tourist visa while you're in Kuala Lumpur?

I was told you could get a 3 month that gives you time to have the 3 months

0 b in thai bank. But there us a lot of bullshitting around.

@Gavin *********
, you can't buy a Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa inside the country you get that from the thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here.

Was looking at the conditions someone posted about 60 day tourist visa in KL. Asked for on flights, accom details etc. All too hard. we want to do a road trip. We will look at it again. I might even go into immigration and ask about OA visa pre retirement visa as I can organize the money and we're over 50.

It all depends on your history of 60 day's Tourist Visa's and usage of Visa Exempt Entry (not a 30 day tourist visa but entry without visa). First time should be no problem, with a long history Immigration can ask questions. Make sure you have the 20.000 Thb cash with you if asked.
