Hi all. I have been in Thailand on a TR visa for 60 days and just extended 30 more.

I want to stay just a couple of months more. The question is if I fly to Cambodia on the last day of my visa, Can I fly straight back to Thailand the same day? I will then enter on a visa exemption and then will extend that once more before returning back to the Uk.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user on a TR (Tourist) visa in Thailand has inquired whether they can fly to Cambodia on the last day of their visa, return the same day using a visa exemption, and extend their stay in Thailand thereafter. Community members confirmed that after exiting Thailand and correctly entering Cambodia, the user can return the same day. However, it's important to complete the exit and re-entry procedures as required. The conversation highlights concerns about strict immigration regulations in Thailand, particularly regarding long-term stays on tourist visas. Several comments suggest seeking advice from a visa agent for better compliance with immigration rules.

You will definitely get questioned at the airport or land border why you are entering Thailand again on what immigration call a “Holiday Visa” ie visa exemption or another tourist visa

Thai immigration are getting extremely strict on people staying long term without the relevant visa

Talk to a visa agent in Bangkok or Pattaya they will help you jump the hurdles

Good luck 🙏

Hi there. That is exactly the same plan as I was hoping to do this trip. I arrived on a SETV stamped in for 60 days. BUT I was warned at tge airport I cannot stay 5 months on that plan in future. I have to get a Non O retirement visa. So now I have had to change plans on flying to Laos and back in again in case I am stopped a second time. Just a heads up that thry are getting very dtrict on visa+30 days visa exempt+ 30 days

I got stopped at BKK airport in September flying in from Vietnam. My tourist visa had expired and I was entering again on a visa exemption

It was just a struck of luck the supervisor who was called over was a reasonable guy it could have gone tits up 🙏

Yes, the only requirement is that you stamp out of Thailand, stamp INTO another country, meaning you must cross passport control in Cambodia and purchase a visa if required, and then stamp out of that country and return to Thailand.

You cannot just turn around in the airport and return, you have to stamp into that country first.

Depending on the airfare and visa costs, it may be better to fly somewhere that doesn't require a visa like Singapore, just depends on nationality.

- Thank you. I do intend to stamp in and out correctly. I am a British national.
