Hello everybody,

I came here on a tourist visa and I have done one visa extension and then one border jump. Would it be best for me to extend my visa again and then do another border jump or should I fly and get another tourist visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to extend their tourist visa again and do another border run, or simply fly out to obtain a new tourist visa. Responses indicate that a second border run is advisable after a recent border bounce, as the user can receive a new 30-day extension without leaving the country. It is emphasized that flying into Thailand carries risks of denial of entry due to their current visa history.

You're allowed two visa-exemption stamps per calendar year by land. Extension is an extra 30 days, WITHOUT having to leave the country. Doing a border run for a new VE gives you 45 days, with the possibility for a 30-day extension. Why wouldn't you get the extension? It's 40% of the visa.

Flying out and getting a tourist visa at an embassy requires a bunch of time, money and effort. You might not even get it (good chance you will if your passport isn't filled with visas/stamps). And it'll give you 60 days, with possibility to extend another 30 days. You also have to pay 1,900฿ twice, and can't get many.

I’m very confused because I’m being told so many different things. I have been told I can do two border hops and I have only done one. I thought I can do another visa extension? I have also been told I can get another 60 day tourist visa from someone at the immigration office. Thank you so much for all the help.

And also your other past visas (many SETVs, or COVID extensions, which might result in being denied a visa or entry).

Without all that information, it's difficult to answer you.

It would be good if you said if you've gotten a Single-Entry Tourist visa, obtained at an embassy, or if you got a visa-exemption stamp, and how many you've gotten so far. Your post only mentions "tourist visa," which means a SETV/TR.

- Tourist visas are only available outside of Thailand, but as I said they are no guarantee of entry and not always simple to get these days.

Visa exempt entry with no visa is currently 45 days, extendable once each entry.

You can enter by land twice in a year.

- It does not have to be confusing.

For each entry as a tourist you can extend once (30 days).

As your time spent in Thailand is building up it is unwise to fly in. Having a visa is not a magic wand. Better to do a land border entry next time.

As you recently did a border bounce...

...go get the 30 day extension of stay you are now eligible for...

...then before the extension ends... do a second Land BORDER bounce out and re-enter...you will get 45 days stamp plus one 30 day extension of stay....

With your recent history of staying in Thailand...

DO NOT FLY INTO THAILAND...

As you are at risk of being DENIED entry.

Only use Land BORDER entry.
