TLDR : Answer Summary
Eddie is inquiring if he can fly to Malaysia and return the same day to obtain a new 30-day tourist visa, mistakenly believing there is such a visa. Responses clarify that there is no 30-day tourist visa, and instead, he's likely referring to the visa-exempt entry that allows for a 30-day stay for certain nationalities. They suggest that typically an exit and re-entry on the same day should not pose an issue, although staying overnight might provide more certainty regarding re-entry compliance.

Yes. But stay overnight if you want to be sure. Unlikely to be an issue at the airport. BKK and DMK can be more strict, but highly unlikely anyone denies you re-entry.a friend here went in and out same day to Singapore this week. No issues

Some say that now you have to stay outside Thailand 1-2 days
There's always someone who says that withour qualifying it. Some border crossings might impose that "rule", you'd have to ask on a local forum or group if the crossing you intend to use is one of those. If you fly back you will be fine on the same day (as long as you don't have a long history of staying in Thailand on tourist stamps).

There's no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa. A tourist visa is something you apply for and pay for before you travel to Thailand and it gives you 60 days when you enter Thailand.
You're probably talking about visa exempt which gives you 30 days if you arrive without a visa and are from certain countries. This isn't any visa at all, it's just an entry stamp.
If you're from a country eligible for visa exempt, as long as you stamp out of Thailand and cross the passport control of another country to stamp into that country, there's no requirement on how long you must be out of Thailand to return and get a new stamp.
