Hello I am looking for advice. I am 19 yetas old from germany. I came to thailand on 14th november 2024, got the 60days stamp and the 30 day extension. Then on 9th february i took a flight to vietnam and stayed until 18th february. On 18th february i took a flight to bangkok and got another 60days stamp. After that i can extend for 30more days. My question is can i do the same process one more time, i mean go out the country and come back in for another 60days. Because i want to stay until july before my uni start in Germany. And if it is not possible to do another visa run, do i have any other options to stay for a few more month?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 19-year-old expat from Germany inquired about extending their stay in Thailand after utilizing a 60-day tourist visa and extending it by 30 days. The individual is considering making a visa run to Vietnam for another entry into Thailand. Community responses highlighted the increasing strictness of immigration regulations, warning that repeated visa runs might lead to denial of entry. They recommended using a border run agency for assistance to avoid complications, emphasizing the importance of having a plane ticket and hotel reservation. Opinions varied, with some suggesting that transit by air is generally safer than land crossings.

I've been harassed & booted out of Thailand once . Happened just before the new visa rules came into effect. Reasons I was detained ( unlawfully if you ask me ) I done two land border runs & flew back to thailand short break from Malaysia. I turned 50 around the same time & my intentions was to get retirement visa but Don muang said I'm doin what the Chinese do 🤔....really? I'm not part of any gang . I'm not running any kind of business in Thailand. Neither breaking any laws .... So after being detained over night I travelled indonesia. I needed new passport due to pages ran out ( immigration Don muang stamped not to be allowed back in Thailand 😂) Flew back to thailand. Talked my way past immigration & did precisely what I should of done sooner got my retirement visa ...3 days before the new visa rules changed .... immigration can be Assoles ( & yes corrupt ) ... so don't be surprised if immigration & customs 🛃 grill u ...just know your rights

2 border runs and few 30 days extensions? Or just border (land) runs

I read a lot about the 30 days extension being a trigger for the Thai immigration.

Good luck. Probably depends on the IO. They are cracking down border jumps . That’s why it getting back to 30 days from the 60 that was just put in place a couple of months ago. Get the correct visa if you want to stay long term

You’ll be ok as long as you show a plane ticket out and hotel reservation. Don’t pay attention to the scaremongers

guaranteed. It’s not considered tourism anymore if you spend 6 months in Thailand already. That’s why they are cutting it from 60 to 30. Believe whatever you want, makes no difference to me.

it absolutely is considered tourism. But you must have the means to support yourself. Which is a very low bar. You can fear it all you want but no worries for me at all

the 60-days Tourist Visas will NEVER go away! What will MAYBE go away are the 60-days stay permit stamp on a visa-exempt entry.
@Leon ********
This stay permit stamp will MAYBE get set back to 30 days

I was referring to 60 day VOA's for the selected origin countries.

There's no such thing as a 60 day VOA and never has been. Visa on Arrival is a visa you apply for and pay for at the airport and gives 15 days. It's visa exempt that is changing.

That's what's planned, but changes take time in Thailand as I'm sure you know; and often don't even get implemented! Watch this space; and how important to Thailand is tourism? Very much so,the 5th biggest industry!

They are pretty strict about this now. If you do it by yourself there's a good chance you will be denied entry. Talk to a border run agency, explain your history, and see if they will take you. If they can't get you back in they won't take you

It immigration gets stricter and stricter in this , so I would be amazed if you would be allowed to do it a third time , there is a reason they are considering to reduce the visa exemption to 30 days

There was just a post from someone in another group that they were denied entry after doing exactly that.

I would not recommend you try doing this on your own after spending 6 months in Thailand.

Use a land border bounce agency who will drive you to the border and back for a fee. Part of that fee is ensuring you get out and back in without any issues.

it’s highly likely they will question you if you fly in. With land crossing - you should be ok (get some cash with you just in case)

yes, if using an agency.

“Thai Visa Service” goes every day from onnut in Bangkok, 4k baht (all included). Find them on fb, WhatsApp etc.

the agency will check your passport stamp history, and THEY know if you have a chance of receiving a third 60 days visa-exempt entry or not. They know their connections at the border. They will not take you on their border bounce tour if they think that your chances are zero
