Hi guy's.

Hoping someone could give me some advice. I know nothing is set in stone here but I just got back from a visa run to vietnam (tourist visa). This was just after finishing an education visa. I was denied the TV with no reason why and flew back in on a 30 day exemption. I will extend this to 60 days. My plan was to just go home, however I was just told each calendar year you are allowed 2 border crossings at 30 days per time. Does anyone think its possible flying out of thailand and coming back in when my exemption is over.. or should I just accept it and leave?

If you read it all thank you and if you know anything that might help then thanks again.

Lewis.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their stay in Thailand after attempting a visa run and facing a denial for a tourist visa. They currently hold a 30-day exemption, plan to extend it to 60 days, and have heard conflicting opinions about the possibility of re-entering Thailand after their exemption expires. Comments from the community suggest careful planning and considering alternative visa options, especially if the user has exhausted their visa exemptions.

I wish you would have asked about getting a Tourist Visa in Vietnam before you flew there. We would have said: Don't go !

After staying in Thailand for almost 5 months with SETV + extension (90 days) and one border run with extension (60 days) I got in Hanoi another SETV without a problem. They advised me to apply next time for a retirement visa. So I wouldn't generalize with the Vietnamese embassies.

What's your nationality? If you're from a country that offers visa exemptions, and you haven't used your visa exempts for the year, this is what I recommend:

1. Enter by land. Friendship Bridge (Vientiane/ Nong Khai) doesn't reject people, to my knowledge.

2. Extend that by another 30 days.

3. Repeat for the other two visa exempts you get at the start of the new calendar year.

It should last you until around June, 2020. Then, it's time for you to go home or find another way to stay.

If visa exempt entry on land in new year is possible or not? Possible technically, depends on your nationality and border checkpoint you will enter Thailand.

If IO will let you in? Unknown.

Just FYI.. How to exit Thailand doesn't matter.

If you fly in, it does not count as a land border crossing. If you have a long history of living inside Thailand and Thailand became your home, it becomes time to look for a visa that fits your purpose and length of stay. Short time visa's does not work for long time stays.

You'll run out of luck entering o. Tourist visaz and exemptions, so have an exit plan ready for when that time occurs. Nobody here can predict the future for you.

I heard of people being rejected by air, however not by land at Friendship Bridge 1 between Nong Khai and Vientiane. Assuming they:

1. Aren't blacklisted.

2. DIdn't use up the two visa exemptions by land for the calendar year.

3. Are from a visa exempt country.
